June 26, 200619 yr I hope you fellow simmers can help me solve this problemEvery time I start a flight no matter where I start from... after 3 to 10 minutes my computer crashes to desktop even some times it reboots all the way...The error report always says that both the FS9.CFG and the SCENERY.CFG files are the ones causing the crashes and the reboots. Is it hardware? Is it Software? Is it Windows XP Service Pack 2???I haver read and read forums but cant find the root of the problem...Thanks a lot for reading my problem... now please help me if you can!Josh:-zhelp
June 26, 200619 yr Backup you original fs9.cfg and then delete it. It'll rebuild itself with default settings when you re-start FS9. I am not sure about scenery.cfg though, as I never had an issue with it.
June 26, 200619 yr Josh - Does it do this with the default FS9 installation or do you have a lot of add-ons installed? If you have a number of add-ons you may want to try a fresh install of FS9 with no add-ons and see if the problem is still there.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. June 27, 200619 yr No I just re-instaled FS9 for the 3d time...I realy dont want to instal any aircraft until It works 100%.Here is the story... just last year EVERYTHING was working out just fine, I upgraded my Video card from a Nvidia Gforce4 to a ATI 9600 and every thing went cool...I even had like 5 more games that used heavy 3d graphics... and STILL my computer worked pretty good......Untill I had to have my computer fixed...They replaced my mother board with a new one and Instled Windows XP SP2... and I got a new memory card... (same memory 512 only difrent but better brand, no big deal right?)when It crashed to desktop It gave me the report of 3 files...C:Documents and Settings.............Application DataMicrosoftFS9fs9.CFG.txtC:Documents and Settings..............Application DataMicrosoftFS9scenery.cfg"But now it crashes and restarts. At first when it crashed I tought that it hapend because by changeing the motherboard I lost the CD instalation of the ATI Radeon VCard and of course the drivers I had instaled... so I proceeded to download the ATI Radeon Catalyst and the newest Drivers, I tried to instal the Catalyst and it asked me for the NET Framework, so I thought ok... "I'll download that tomorow... let me instal the driver first then"... so i did (I explain this cause i want to know if the order of components instaled is important or not)...To make this short, Now I have everything instaled and most of the times after 10 or 15 minutes flying the computer restarts... The reboot hapens not at a exact time... it is random...I need help guys... any sugestions? This is realy frustrating... Thanks
June 27, 200619 yr >This is the error it gives meHi Josh, from what I understand, the only module responsible for the error is g2d.dll. FS9.cfg and scenery.cfg are not part of the error, they are only included to help troubleshooting in the error report.Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
June 27, 200619 yr Josh,It is indeed an error with the g2d.dll module only. The error report only includes the other files since they were loaded and running at the time of the crash.Do a Google search for g2d.dll and you'll find lots of information. One of the simplest solutions I read was that you can disable ATI Overdrive. Otherwise there are bios changes that need to be made. When you had the computer repaired the bios settings may not have been checked or they may have even been changed.Hope this helps.Steve
June 27, 200619 yr Josh - Also be sure that video caching or shadowing is disabled in the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) settings for your computer. Your motherboard manual will tell you how to change this setting.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage.
