May 12, 20188 yr Hi. I get a nose gear fail light every flight. I extend around 220 kts. The gear stays down and locked and lands fine...But the gear horn is sounding during approach. Any ideas? Thanks.
May 12, 20188 yr Administrators 220 knots sounds a little too high of an airspeed for gear extension. What does the flight manual say is the proper speed? May 13, 20188 yr Moderator Check the decal. Note however that during flaps 30 & 40 a warning buzzer will be heard. Generally I wait until 180 IAS until extending the gear: Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 14, 20188 yr Author my only guess is that 220 kts is too fast to lower the gear with the gravel kit...which seems to be the only time i get the failure..
January 9, 20197 yr I came across this topic while trying to troubleshoot my own issues with gear failures on the Milviz B732. This led me to look at the aircraft.cfg. There is one aircraft.cfg for all variants (Pax, Combi, Cargo, Gravel Kit, No Gravel Kit). The nose gear on the MV B732 receives damage at 195 KIAS. This is a limitation of the gravel kit and near the speed I usually drop the gear on a normal approach. One gust or eye away from airspeed, and the gear may sustain damage. If you are like me and never use the gravel kit, you can amend these numbers to be more realistic to non-gravel kit versions. The max operating speed (not extension/retraction) without the gravel kit and gear extended is 320 KIAS (see FCOM p. 823 once this pic link expires). To amend these limitation, find this section of the aircraft.cfg.
