July 2, 200619 yr First off I just want to say I came across this on another message board. All credit to the poster on the Aussie scenery forum :)You guys already know of the excellent Blue Sky V2 textures uploaded here that gives a realistic horizon line. This FS9.cfg tweak along with Blue Sky *really* does the business and gives you a very realistic faded/blurred look, works very well for me.I have not tried it without Blue Sky but Im sure it will make a difference even then. The tweak:(X = whatever value you already have)1. Make a backup of your FS9.cfg2. Open the .cfg and locate the line MAX UNLIMITED VIS=X3. Change X to 482804. Save the .cfg and fire up the sim.

It can be changed in the "Display Settings->Weather Display->Sight Distance" as well, but in that case the min settable value is 60 miles, whereas to have a soft horizon you need to set it to no more than 29.9 miles (i.e. 48240 metres).IMPORTANT: please note than anytime one clicks "OK" after having entered the "Display settings", FS9 re-changes the aforementioned value to 60mi (96560 metres), so it need to be changed again in FS9.cfg.Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
July 2, 200619 yr Thanx for explaining the workings behind that tweak Marco, I dindnt really know what it was doing :)

July 5, 200619 yr Great tweak, Looks fantastic with Flight enviroment. Don't know about other sky textures. Gave me a couple more frames too. Thanks, CarlosTried X-Plane. Didn't like it. Back to FS2004.
July 5, 200619 yr Author Somewhat surprised by the above. If one is using FSUIPC, which most simmers I think do, the visibility in miles can be set within the module to anything one wants under clear, cloudy, rain, etc. FSUIPC ensures that the visibilty is thus maintained even after clicking OK in the Display Settings dialogue.
