1000 feet call out

Recommended Posts

I have just noticed that the "1000" callout on final approach (the point at which I disconnect the AP) is not matching the "elevation above terrain" stated on the FMA. The latter seems to be at around 840 feet when I get the "1000" callout. Does anyone know what I may have done to mess this up? It works fine in both the 737 NGX and 747-400, and I am reasonably certain that it worled properly when I first started using the 777 (although I could be wrong).

I also have several captures where the callout comes at 920/900 or even 840 RA. Sometimes a bit confusing when you hear 1000 and the PFD shows 920 and no there were no significant changes regarding terrain.

Use BARO and your problem will go away.  🙂

I guess it is probably significant that when I load my SAVE file for the 777, I see a "Landing Altitude" EICAS message? When you say "RA or BARO", I switch from BARO to RA to set the minimums altitude. Are you saying that I need to switch it back to BARO? I do not see any such instruction in the Tutorial.

I guess the “1000” callout is capturing the RA with respect to TDZE (or just airport elev in P3D/FSX). E.g. TDZE of CYYZ/33R is 564’ so you hear “1000” callout at about 1560’ BARO, even though RA at that point is 1120’.
