Yes of course you can, simply point the installer to your other drive and you are good to go. I have done this or a long time................Randy J. Smith................CAUTION! July 6, 200619 yr You can install FS9 on any hard drive you choose. Performance will be largely uneffected no matter where you put it unless you use a 5400rpm drive versus a 7200 rpm model. When you reformat, use to repair the registry after windows is setup. Just follow the on screen instructions.Jim Karn[link:www.precisionmanuals.com]http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_pf.jpg
July 7, 200619 yr Problem is, when doing just that as I did, all your registrations, keys and flight plans still reside in the flight plans folder on your 'C' drive!Meaning FS9 can never stand alone. Dave Taylor
July 7, 200619 yr Sure it's possible. Just make sure you install all your addons from that same drive, not from another drive through a network. A lot of addons have to have registry entries on the same drive where FS is, and if you install accross a network or from another drive things won't work right.Rob
July 7, 200619 yr Author I have two winxp installs on different HDD's (same compt) and one is on C: and the other is on L: (partioned HDD's).I installed FS9 on D: drive and use the scenery on that one for the other FS9 installed on L:.U can do it various ways as long as u tell the software install where your FS9 is - if it doesn't pick it up from the registry entry. It can get complicated and is a way of learning about computers.I have 2/80 gig installed and partioned them to what I wanted. This could slow the computer down - or may not but I like it as it is and may do it another way if any of the drives pack up ( fingers are crossed)There are diff ways of doing everything and each of us will do it their way - but I like "experimenting" by the way both my OS systems have been running for over 2 years now. Byeeeeeee :)
