February 26, 200719 yr Commercial Member >Now, maybe FSCloud9 does care, but it surely makes no sense as>to why this fella is being treated this way.Well, that message was quite old, I'm sure he got his problem solved in the meantime. However, I would like point out the following:Couldn't simply be that Cloud9 never received his emails, OR their replies to him were refused by his anti-spams ? Wouldn't be better to be absolutely *sure* of this, before stating in other forum "they don't reply" and start talking about reporting to authorities and similar ?There was a similar thread by another developer, who said basically the same: he was unfairly attached for not responding to emails, but in fact, the reason was because he never received customers emails in the first place OR, emails he sent as replies were jumping back and he had no other way to contact the customer. The reason is usually the customer's antispam (either on his machine or on the user ISP) that are set to be too aggressive, throwing away legitimate emails together with real spam. This is really unfortunate, because if the user's email can't (for any reason) be reached, sometimes is not even possible to register to the developer's forum, because you can't receive the forum activation email as well. One of the main reason of email not working very well, *expecially* from overseas and *expecially* through Italy, it's the presence of the so-called RBL or spam blacklists. These are used to configure antispam software like Spam Assassin or similar on your ISP server. Your ISP keep the software updated with those lists, not unlikely an antivirus service.During past years, spammers were using a *lot* some of the 2 more popular Italian ISPs as open relays to send spam: Interbusiness (Telecom Italia) and Libero.it (Wind). Since both companies didn't do much to stop spammers, or they did it after months of having reported the abuse, it happened more than once that the ENTIRE subnet of Telecom Italia and Wind were put into an RBL black lists. When this happens, it's no longer possible to reach *entire* networks from any address in Italy, considering that those 2 ISP are probably about 80% of the italian market, you get the picture. There was a time when I wasn't able to send ANY email to ANYONE in the US! Fortunately enough, my hosting ISP it's in the US, so I can use the US SMTP instead, and this saved me from many embarassing situations, because the *same* email that was jumping back when sent using the Italian SMTP, didn't have any problems reaching the other end when I used the US SMTP.In order to be "whitelisted" from a black list, an ISP have to contact the list mantainers, and pay a fee! This was thought as an incentive for ISP to be more active on their side in fighting individual spammers, but most of the times, a big ISP like Telecom Italia (they control about 90% of the landlines in Italy, 70% of the DSL services and 60% of the mobile) simply do not care, or they act after months of complains by their users that can't send emails reliably. So, before accusing anyone not replying to emails, please, be sure your email has been received.Try to use a different address, or keep several "backup" addresses with free services like Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc. If your email didn't get a reply with your regular address, try to use one of the other ones. Also, try to register to the developer's forum using another email until you find one that is accepted, and when you can post, please post a message about you not being able to contact support IN that forum, not somewhere else, because you can't assume the developer will read every message in every forum.
