Best Settings FSXSE 55 Inch Curved Monitor 3480x2160

Featured Replies

I am using FSXSE and I am wondering if there are settings for a 55 inch curved monitor  and dealing with Virtual Cockpit to make it more proportional. I know I can press and hold the <shift> <-> to reduce the size, but just wondering if you can set it in the aircraft for FSXSE config file.

Also, it seems like the horizon is "sky" heavy or top heavy regarding the point of view of the sky..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You need to use a camera control program (e.g. OpusFSI, EZDoc, etc) to shift your eyepoint, zoom, and view direction settings to taste.  That will allow you to manage your virtual view.  BUT...

...a 4K monitor in FSX SE is going to be a real performance challenge because so much of the rendering workload is done by the CPU.  You want to use DX10 preview mode to shift as much of the workload to the GPU, and then be very sparing with AA.  I just buffed up FSX myself after not touching it for almost 2 yrs (been on P3D fairly exclusively), during which time I moved up to a 55" 4K monitor and a fairly powerful PC.  Even with a 5GHz CPU and a very powerful GPU subsystem (either one or both 1080Tis in play, as FSX makes no real use of SLI), I can bring FSX to its knees pretty easily in 4K just by adding in modest amounts of AA (e.g. 2xSGSS) or heavy weather.

IMHO, you need to move up to P3D (with a good GPU, 1080 or better) to properly leverage a large 4K display without pretty significant limitations on image quality.

I assume EZDOC is compatible with FSXSE??

I will try the DX-10  preview mode and see how that works.  As I recall, there were issues under Windows 10??

Thanks!
