Possible to increase VRAM usage in V4?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've been playing around with a few things since I've encountered blurrie issues GSXL2. One thing I have noticed is that I only use about 25-30% of my VRAM. Are there any settings I can change/add in the cfg to shift some of the load from the CPU to the GPU? I'm using a pretty vanilla cfg right now. I know it is a CPU intensive program, but I have also seen many reports of people using around 50% making me think something is up. Perhaps my CPU can't push enough to the GPU, but I'm not really sure what I should be expecting.

The GSX issue is very slow loading textures and blurries.

BTW, I am running HT and I have tried AM of 84 and 253 to see if it made a difference. It doesn't seem to make a difference with performance, and having no AM feels smoother (no AM performance was fantastic before these recent issues). I tried all 3 options and it doesn't seem to make a difference in VRAM usage either.

Thanks for any advice you can provide!

I'll bump your thread up, not that I have any real substantive answer for you.

I will say, that anecdotally, in my limited VRAM observations, I haven't seen P3D use anywhere near the 11GB my 1080Ti card has.  Admittedly though I need to load up GPU-Z and start observing VRAM usage in certain big-use spots (New York, London, or an Orbx area).  Since I'm not a big fan of photoscenery I don't own any, outside of TrueEarth Netherlands, which I haven't even bothered downloading yet.  I assume photoscenery would use more vram, but I'll let others comment on these things.

Put this TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 in your p3d v4 confg file under the  [TERRAIN]  section, load some quality ai, add a lil orbix so cal and fly into lax. I'm usually somewhere between 75 and 80%. Heck, even at sfo I'm using 8Gb's -1440P screen size.
