September 20, 20187 yr Hi fellas, Upon my first flight with the excellent A2A Bonanza I discovered the backlighting of the GNS 530 knobs was always on, although the radio backlighting in the aircraft is of. I checked the RXP ini file (I could not get the options to appear with shift.right click) and figured the brightness.bezel = 100 had to be set to a lower value or 0. After having done this it didn't have any effect, apart from the popup disappearing altogether, only showing the black window. What could be the issue here? How can I get the bezel backlighting to work properly? Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
September 20, 20187 yr Hi, Unlike X-Plane, there is no 'standard' rheostat 'simvar' in FltSim. Any such rheostat is therefore custom-build for each aircraft and there is no way to make third party gauges know about these unless being told so. This is why changing the value with the aircraft won't affect the GTN/GNS V2. On the other hand, our GTN/GNS V2 publish know simvars for this purpose, documented p13 of the User's Manual. Any third party aircraft vendor wishing to integrate our products just need to write these simvars with the correct values (from 0 to 100) for this to work. These are not 'connected' yet into our gauges, but they are reserved for such use in a future update. Now, as far as 'black window', it might be a bug and we'll review this. Was this happening in the VC or popup window? What simulator version?
September 20, 20187 yr Author Thanks Jean-Luc. This is with Prepar3D v4.3 and the VC of the Bonanza. I was fiddling with the correct entry in the ini file though? Even a setting of brightness.bezel = 0 let the backlight of the bezel knobs completely lit. I'll post on the A2A forums as well. September 20, 20187 yr This might be a case where the integral lighting you are looking at is hard-coded in the aircraft texture. To make sure: just open a popup window GNS V2 and see if the integral is working or not (using the GNS V2 settings panel).
September 20, 20187 yr Author With a popup adjusting the bezel button brightness is working like a charm, so it might be something A2A coded in the VC bezel. I'll check with them. Thanks! Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
