August 25, 200619 yr Could anyone tell me how to assign Keys/buttons for the doors, reverse thrust ETC ETC I do not see them in the list of Assignments within FS9 and none are working with the default keys Thanks Wayne
August 25, 200619 yr Hi Wayne! The registered version of Pete Dowson's FSUIPC provides an enormous amount of assignments that are otherwise unknown. There's a fair chance that one or more of your requirements are among them. The paid version of FSUIPC is worth its money under all circumstances, since there are also many other things than just "assign" that you can do with it!Have fun!Jaap Verduijn.
August 25, 200619 yr Well thanks for the reply but I have tryed this and ther is no command for the reverse thrust or doors etc etc in there so I am still left wondering how I asign buttons to them Thanks Wayne
August 25, 200619 yr Hi, Good advice from Jaap, however, to assign reverse thrust, or anything else, without FSUIPC, go to Options-controls-assignments-Engine commands. Scroll down to "Decrease throttle quickly" It should be assigned F2. If it is, make sure the repeat bar is full right. If not, click on it, then on "Change assignment" then press F2. For the door go to General aircraft commands, scroll down to "Select Exit" It should be Shift+E. If not, do same as above. Hope this gets you going.Russell.
August 26, 200619 yr Author There is no assignment for "Reverse Thrust". Reverse thrust activates when the throttle is at minimum and the key for reducing thrust is pressed AND HELD DOWN(default assignment: F2).IMPORTANT point about Reverse Thrust:If a throttle on a joystick or yoke is not at FULL IDLE - reverse thrust WILL NOT ACTIVATE. This could be a consequense of miscalibration or even component values that shift a little when a controler has been operating for a while. Even if your throttle is a the extreme end of its mechanical travel, if the data returned to the simulator is the slightest bit above minimum reverse thrust won't activate. ANY application of throttle increase from any source (throttle on controler, F3, F4 or numeric pad 9 without numlock) will CANCEL reverse thrust. If your aircraft is equipped with auto-throttle you also need to deactivate auto-throttle to either reduce thrust to idle or activate reverse thrust. If you have trouble getting a FULL idle reading from your controler try recalibrating it without moving it quite all the way to its minimum position. In SOME cases the components inside the controller need servicing or you need to replace the controller. To see the Opening Exits assignment Press F10 and click the "A" button on the right side of the kneeboard. Look for "Select Exit" at the bottom of the "General Aircraft Commands" section about 45% of the way down. As an alternate Select "Controls|Assignments..." on the "Options" menu and again look for "Select Exit" with either "All Commands" or "General aircraft commands" selected in the list control marked "Event category". This command without a number will open the primary exit. In SOME cases third party gages simulate key press events that interfere with the selection of secondary and subsequent exits. Such gages might also interfere with pushback turns. Many aircraft don't have secondary exits, some secondary exits are baggage doors or engine access panels and some aircraft have NO exits at all.
August 26, 200619 yr If you go to Pete Dowson's web site there are files for the controls. You need to download the old ones for earlier versions of FS because he didn't repeat all the explanations in the newer FS versions. His list contains all the known actions which can be assigned keys and axis (analog) controls.scott s..

His list contains all the known>actions which can be assigned keys and axis (analog)>controls.>>scott s.Where you responding to me?Are you refering to some sort of configuration file for FSUIPC?I'm not using FSUIPC. Default assignments for throttle reduction (and thus thrust reversal), exits and Pushback turns are working fine on my system with a Wingman Force joystick (the old heavy weight model) and RCS pedals (Virtual Pilot Pro is normally only used to prevent game port disconnect errors).I used the normal assignments popup in the simulator to assign joystick buttons for throttle reduction (specifically for thrust reversal), both differential brakes (same as F11 and F12 keys), simultanious use of both brakes (same as period key) and incremental flap operation (same as F6 and F7 keys). The elevator trim and view cycle (same as s key) were automaticaly assigned when I installed the joystick, but I can change them with the simulator's own assignment dialog at any time.Of course I could use Logitech's software to make the buttons emulate input from a USB keyboard, but that's pretty model specific. My simulation settings read them as control buttons, not as keystrokes.I had to retire a Suncom dual throttle because the one of the two potentiometers kept drifting during flights. Instead of the normal rotating type they are odd looking linier units like some old stereos used to have for volume and balance controls. With a USB converter I could use both throttles in the Suncom without loseing the RCS functions. since then I've been forced to use differential braking to taxi twins with conventional landing gear (tail draggers).
