Reading your scenery from other addons

Recommended Posts

Hi Oliver:

One more time, a big thank you for creating this wonderful P3D Addon Organizer utility for P3Dv4 users.

Probably this has been answered before, but just want to know if the feature that keeps running in the background to allow utilities like MakeRunways (as you put in your example in the manual) to be run from a temporarily created Scenery.CFG file should also be used in case of running ORBX's Airports Elevation Corrections (AEC) from FTX Central?.

Cheers, Ed

Hello Ed,

good question. It would depend on how exactly that FTX feature works, but I'm afraid that have no information whatsoever about that. I never paid attention to it, or checked if my external sceneries were included in the AEC scan. It didn't really work out for me anyway, I seem to always have to disable the AEC entries for addon airports.

If AEC is only looking at the scenery.cfg, then using a temporary (=complete) one would indeed be required. But if AEC looks through the whole setup or if it analyzes the scenery index, then external scenery should be included in the scan and the ICAO codes of external airports should show up in AEC.

Best regards

Yup, it's probably better to check them just case by case and do things manually.

By the way, I don't think ORBX has modified anything on their systems to consider the new addons-xml method (just my guess) and AEC it's probably reading from the traditional scenery.cfg file.

Thanks, Ed
