Altitude Alert May be Going Off Wrong

Hello,

When I set the altitude to, say 5000ft, and I get the warning and the aircraft levels off correctly at 5000ft.  Then I want to go higher, so I'll set the altitude, say to 10,000ft, push ALTSEL, then use VS to climb, but with everything set correctly to climb, I get an altitude warning right away when I start climbing and have to cancel the warning.

Is this the way it is supposed to be?
