December 4, 20187 yr A jetBlue Winter...Boston! Thanks for viewing, Darryl Edited December 4, 20187 yr by SP2472
December 6, 20187 yr When Jetblue was first coming into existence, their crew was staying at the JFK hotel that I was installing a WAN in and training the hotel's employees how to use it, the former JFK Hilton. I got to see the Concorde on final fly right past my room, it was so loud I could hear it coming, it sounded different from all the other jets on final. I loved sitting in the hotel's lounge with the jetblue flight crew in training. They were good people, we exchanged travel stories and beer, their female flight attendants especially were so kind to me, knowing I was alone missing my wife. That was in 1999, when I stepped afoot on top of the old WTC and walked in its underground mall, taking the A train back towards JFK, transferring by bus to the terminal since its people mover was not complete yet. It was my last time in the beautiful old TWA terminal with its airy and ultramodern feel. When I flew home, the JFK Hilton, which I converted into a Best Western, called America West unbeknownst to me, they knew the higher ups there. They had me upgraded to first class for the more than three weeks of service I gave them, to my wonderful surprise. I was home just on Xmas day with my wife and newborn daughter, then on my way to Seattle on the 26th where I saw the Y2K Space Needle fireworks. So in December of 99 I flew coast to coast, via Phoenix, on a long stay away from home and my newborn daughter. I quit being a road warrior just four months later although I still had to travel some for my work, which I did all the way until my retirement in 2015. In 2017 I took my first month long trip since JFK, via London, all over Western Europe. John Edited December 6, 20187 yr by John_Cillis
