P4D CTD with certain Airport Addons

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Not sure how to present this in order to get a few hints on how to fix this.

I have upgraded P3D from 4.3 to 4.4 and now I find that some addon airports are causing constant CTD.

Namely FT Boston rebooted, I have FT Cyyz and Kbuf and they work OK.

Orbx LEBB

Aerosoft EDDS

I would load the flight and hear the engine (prop) and right away CTD. No event logs.

These were all working fine in P3D 4.3.

Checked websites and no reports of problems in V4.4

Not sure were to go from here.

Maybe someone sends me in the right direction.

Helmut

I am not sure what scenery is causing the crash.  FT Boston, Orbx LEBB, and Aerosoft EDDS?  Have you tried disabling the scenery to see if the flight will load with the default scenery?  What aircraft are you trying to use?  Did you merge the Beechcraft and other Carenado aircraft from 4.3 to 4.4 as suggested by someone in the P3D Forums.  You know the Carenado aircraft require additional files and fonts in the main P3D directory?

When you installed V4.4, what did you do?  Did you uninstall the Client for v4.3 and install the Client for v4.4?  Did you do the same for Content and Scenery?  The scenery should all work without reinstalling but I would find the installers for these programs and right click the .exe and select repair or simply reinstall them.

Thanks Jim for helping,

The CTD happen on any of these addon airports that I mentioned. I tried to disable to the sceneries from the Addons menu in P3D but the crashes still

occur. I have tried Beechcraft and Carenado aircraft with the same result. I was not aware of additional files required for these planes.

Only uninstalled the 4.3 client and installed V4.4 client, never touched the Content and Scenery, I may have to or completely redo P3D.

Thanks

Are you using FSUIPC? If so, have you updated it? Checked any additional addons the may require updating. Nothing in the client should cause any scenery to make the sim fail.

Side note.. If you want PBR to work correctly you should do content as well.

If you just installed the Client, there probably was not any changes to the default twin engine aircraft in v4.3 and earlier.  I heard LM removed these aircraft in v4.4 but think you have to uninstall Content and then install v4.4 Content for this to happen.  Some were going to move these aircraft over from v4.3 to v4.4 but not everything required is in the Carenado aircraft folders.  I would occasionally get an unexplained CTD when loading any aircraft at startup with heavy weather.  I discovered it to be an issue with the Carenado module CMeteoXml.dll which belongs to their weather radar.  This is a reason why I suggested in the AVSIM CTD Guide, Page 10, to investigate by disabling your dll.xml's (there are two for P3D), the P3D.cfg, and move everything in your Documents/Prepar3D 4 Add-ons folder to a temporary folder just to see if this fixes the problem.  If it does, then is one of these files that is causing your crashes.

Best regards,

Jim

Thanks Jim for your ongoing support for my problem. I decided to uninstall Content and re install and this seems to have fixed my problem

with some of my addon airports. I was able to see the default scenery again for these and went ahead and re-installed the addons they seem to

be working now, exept LEBB from Orbx where I see a strange issue. When in cockpit view (use ezca v2) it looks ok, but in spot view I see only

the shadow  of it. I have already  re-installed the scenery but same problem. Have to check with ORBX of what the problem is.

Thanks

Thanks for the update.  Glad you got it back to working!  Make sure you deleted the Shaders folder.
