August 10, 200619 yr Is anyone else having this weird see-thru thing happen to imported FS9 planes? I realize we can't expect all FS9 planes to be compatible, especially in a beta demo, but I know other people are using FS9 planes without these problems. It could come down to the individual plane...
August 10, 200619 yr I saw it with the Howard 500, and not with the Vickers Vimy or the AlphaSim Dh Hornet.I'll have to check Henry's AI Cessna's and the AIA aircraft tomorrow.
August 11, 200619 yr See-through imported FS9 aircraft is hardly what I would call backward compatibily.Could I get a little more info on this :-hmmm regardsEdaka Capt. August 11, 200619 yr Don't worry, the Baron was a bit see through too, remember it's still buggy (DEMO - not final version), I think partly that may be why they've released it, in the hope our little community will try things and find a few bugs the beta guys didn't find yet.I've got to say there are things I'm really impressed with, I flew it in a Thunderstorm, and in spite of the ammount of cloud I was getting fairly decent fps, in the high teens locked at 20fps.The rain on the runways and taxiways is a beautiful touch, along with the spray that gets pushed up from the engines as you throttle them up. The spray goes the direction of the wind too. so if you hit the brakes and lock up the wheels (at least I think that's what happened) you get appropriate spray drifting in the wind.turbulance has had a heckuva makeover, I was getting bounced left and right, up and down like anything in a storm that sounded like it meant business. The sound upgrade to FS is nothing short of superb in this version, well done FS for going over to proper surround sound.
August 11, 200619 yr Thankyou John, I must say so far FSX is going to be a smash hit with me! I'm running the demo on my laptop with some pretty high FSX settings! :-eek regardsEdaka Capt. August 11, 200619 yr Problem solved - in another thread found the not to copy the envmap.bmp file from FS9Texture to FSXDemoTexture folder.
August 11, 200619 yr Bingo! ...thankyou Reggie! :) regardsEdaka Capt. August 19, 200619 yr I copied envmap.bmp from the fs9texture folder to the fsxtexure folder. After doing this however, FS9 aircraft appear in completely greytexture per the attached JPEG file. Prior to this the FS9 aircraft were transparent but at least the airline isignia was visible on the aircaft. Any insight into this phenomenon is appreciated. My system is a P4 2.53 GHz with an NVIDIA GeForce4 MMX440 128 Mb video card.
August 24, 200619 yr You probably took the file away from fs9 completely. Just copy and paste it back into fs9.
August 24, 200619 yr Actually the screenshot is of an FS9 AI aircraft in FSX not FS9. I have no problems viewing aircraft in FS9 itself.
August 27, 200619 yr Since I have have not seen this phenomenon discussed anywhere else, could it just be my video card or is there another explanation? Any help is appreciated.
August 27, 200619 yr Author Doesn't FSX use a new texture format thingy like DTX5 or something? I was assuming that was the cause, but I'm not a aircraft maker. (obvious from the "thingy" comment). :)Bob... Bob Prince
