August 17, 200619 yr In FS9 Microsoft modeled a number of extra scenery items for Oshkosh (KOSH), all related to the annual EAA Airventure airshow. These items render the airport somewhat useless for the rest of the year, after all they look rather odd with snow all around them. Is this going to be repeated in FSX, or are they at least going to only show during a certain time of year? I'd really like to do more flying out of the airport I live two blocks away from...Some kind of official word from one of our resident FSX Team members would be appreciated. :-)Thanks!
August 18, 200619 yr Sounds pretty easy to do with some excludes. Check out SceneGenX at http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/airportsupport/home.htmI'm not sure how to have it change automatically, but, once you've created the excludes, you can manually disable them for a week in August.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
August 18, 200619 yr Hello George,Have you tried removing the Oshkosh bgl? This should do what you want.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
August 18, 200619 yr Thanks for the replies. Removing the Oshkosh.bgl takes out things that need to stay in place for year-round operation of the airport. If I remember correctly this removes the control tower as well as some other details I wanted to keep. Has been awhile since I tried that. I have not yet tried and of the common scenery programs to remove the items on my own, perhaps I should do that someday. It would be nice, however if I didn't have to... ;-)
August 19, 200619 yr Technically, this scenery was for FS-2002. It was an add-on released after the main Sim. Not that that solves your issue. I don't understand why you can't use the airport if there's lots of extra planes there?

I certainly would not have installed it if I had the choice. Extra planes, tents, etc are very incorrect for 99% of the year. They don't look that great to begin with, and are quite distracting and pretty much kill FPS. I certainly can (and have) used the airport with them in place- but it would be no different from using some other very inaccurate scenery at a different airport. I'm trying to get a little bit more accurate for my "home" airport.
August 20, 200619 yr It was an add on from Microsoft for 2002, but included as default scenery for 2004. I doubt there's much you can do, even trying to exclude it would be alomst impossible without hitting other parts of the airport as well.
August 20, 200619 yr Author Is there a 3rd-party Oshkosh out there? If so, I would exclude the entire default airport and use the 3rd-party one, if it was acceptable.Maybe this will be different in FSX. Maybe the "airshow stuff" will only appear in that one week in August. In past versions, we've had time-specific scenery elements in BGL code, so I see no reason why it can't be that way in FSX, as well...Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
