I don't know if I should do this..I will make a restore point on my Windows XP with SP2I have a Dell 8200 Pentium 4 processor at 2.4ghz.Nvidia Geforce 3 ti-500 with 52.16 drivers. (These may be outdated for this program but work well with fs9.)Turtlebeach soundcard with THX speakers.I guess all I can do is to install try..play. like it.. keep it... or don't like it uninstall and delete it.. I hope it is great but I also am not holding my breath either.Do you think with these specs I will be alright? Or do you think it will cause serious issues.Like I said before I guess I am kinda concerned with fs9 but it is only a small program and it doesn't go into fs9 at all it shouldn't effect it. I have alot of addons though.

Assuming you survive the ordeal, tell us how it goes.

FSX is a standalone demo and won't mess with your FS9 installation. My suggestion is to leave the sliders where they autodetect and see how the demo plays like that. Gary

Don't expect to be able to run it with everything turned up. The GeForce Ti-500 is very old and many of the more advanced visual features such as reflective water only work with newer cards. Also, don't expect decent framerates unless you turn a whole lot of sliders to the left.Sorry about this info. Good luck with it!James

Well I installed it. It went okay. I did do some experimenting with the settings and did find frame rates to be rather low so I think I will middle them out again. Things I like about the sim:1. Very colorful sunset2. I like the golden effect of the plane when the sun sets3. High altitude flying seems to be more realistic with the deepening of the darker sky4. Visibility layers are an added plus.Things that need improvement:Clouds could be a little better detailed. FSW has better looking clouds.Thunderstorms should have a few more anvil shape clouds. In fs9 there seemed to be a few more.I can hardly hear the thunder when there is lightening. I am not sure if they left this sound out in the demo or what.Lastly I can't seem to get rid of the menu bar when I go back to flying. Anyone have any ideas on this one?The cirrus clouds are still paper thin. I was hoping for a change in that. Fs2002 did a better job on that.I will post some screens later perhaps tomorrow.Also I am thinking about getting a new videocard probably from Nividia. I have had the best luck with them and I never tried ATI before. I am thinking of the 6800 or the 7800gt express pci board. What do you think? Any info would be appreciated.Thank You,

Also For you Information for those who haven't tried real weather in the demo PLEASE DON'T. If anyone is successful tell us how, because it sure caused me some trouble there. It causes the demo to lock up and the only way to recover is to cold boot your computer. CTRL+ALT+ESC will NOT WORK it only locks it up more. Another issue that I have is the CRJ jet there seems to be grey windows that block you from seeing the outside. Is there a way to get rid of this?

For every press of the S key, cycle through ALL of the camera positions with the A key.

Real weather works fine for me in the demo -- just click on it in the weather screen, no special procedure. I perhaps didn't disable Norton Security 2006 before installing maybe that could be the issue? I did check fs9 real weather and had no problems at all downloading real weather. Also for some reason after that incident it seems to stay in my memory and I get a ccapp.exe not responding when windows was attempting to shut down. I also get another mesage with a tone "initialization failed" when I shut down the computer yesturday but it did shut down normally after those two things. I ran chkdsk to hopefully fix this this morning, but I couldn't read the report because it goes on and doesn't stay on long enough to read the details. I presume everything is okay. Is there a way to go back to review the details of your last hard drive scan using the NTFS system?Also regarding about those windows, I am not sure I can get it anyway. My videocard is a very old one for this program. I think it supports only shader 1.1. Is there a way to find out the kind of shader your videocard supports? It is also greyed out in the regular cockpit as well.>
