SATA SSDs MX500 vs 860Evo

Recommended Posts

My next build will be an i7-9700K + 1080Ti and I need enough space for Win10, DCS2.5, BMS4.33, Xplane11.

Will stick with SATA SSDs until NvMe prices come down. Options:

# 2x 500GB Samsung 860 Evo £75 + £75

# 2x 500GB Crucial MX500 £58 + £58

# 250GB Crucial MX500 + 1TB Crucial MX500 £43 + £113

# 1TB Crucial MX500 £113

Q1) Which is the best SSD config, OS + Sims or all on one?

Q2) Is the 860 Evo going to be practically any faster than the MX500 on the SATA3 bus?

I've recently changed from a 500gb 860 Evo to a 1Tb MX500 and noticed no difference

No need for multiple drives. All on one drive is fine.

1 Tb 860 Evo £145.

860 Evo is slightly faster than the MX500, but if you are on a budget I wouldn't be too concerned. Doubt you would notice the difference.
