This from the FSUIPC log... 78 FS UNC path = "\\PCRBW7\FSX\"

The backslash is okay. However, his plans are stored in...

\\PCRBW7\Flight Simulator X-Dateien\

So unless that folder has read/write access RC4 will fail.

Ruedi, I can still see your email address in the log.

Hi, could not change to delete my username..... yet.

Yesterday, I have deleted!

    ACTUAL:  RC4 is not crashed,
BUT as soon showtext is running, the error occurs
Today we have family event...... but tommorrow, I will try another way.

This test made yesterday:  >>>   - my answer!!

Ray

Error 70 is a permissions failure. On your FSX PC right-click the FSX folder, choose Properties. Go to the sharing tab. There are two buttons for sharing. The first one is Share. Click it. Do you see an entry for Everyone?
    -  Yes everyone has read/write
If you don’t then click Add and enter it. Make sure Read/Write is checked.

Then go to the second-Advanced Sharing. Make sure Share This Folder is checked. If it is click on Permissions and make sure Everyone has Full Control.
    -  Yes everyone has read/write as well

Do you have Autosave enabled in FSUIPC?
    -Yes
    _some values from Fsuipc.ini:

[Sounds]
Path=I:\FSX\Sound\
[ClientNames]
1=NBOOKW7

[Window.LUA display]
Docked=7347, 2448, 3571, 2544

[Window.Radar Contact]
Docked=242, 2762, 3552, 2472
Undocked=7, 80, 373, 176

What is the path to FSX?
    -I:\FSX            (I: is a partion of HD)

What happens if you just tune to ATIS? Does it play?
    -open

I’ve removed permissions from my P3D folder but RC still works. I’m trying to reproduce error 70 but so far no luck.

Has another aircraft been tried? Also another scenery?

  Ruedi,

Make sure you have shared the folder containing your flight plans. My Documents\FSX Plans or something like that. Write access is required if you have Autosave enabled as that is where the saved flight is stored. And RC will also try to write there.

    C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Flight Simulator X-Dateien
    - Yes everyone has read/write access
*********

Can you provide screenshots of your RC settings window please? I assume it's an IFR flight. You're at a gate and need to hear ATIS followed by your Clearance.
    - load Flight, IFR Flight, at then at the gate I hear ATIS
    - now I activate  debug on rcv and Start RC
    - then dialog with RC controller
No Crash
***************

When precisely does RC4 crash? Are you pressing a button for ATIS or Clearance?

Steve, I doubt it's aircraft or scenery related. It's a communications issue between the two computers.

...maybe it's because I've problem solved on countless systems. But the way I work is that when it's not happening, anything possibly related must be checked. Since even those things that don't directly cause an issue can often offer a clue to the resolution.

jRay
Ruedi needs to tell us what aircraft and location plus the flight plan and whether it’s IFR or VFR.

I use the PMDG737 without any issues. It’s something simple.

 Ruedi,

There is a debug option in RC4. Load your flight and just before you press Start RC press Debug. A log will be generated for all events within RC4.
    -

I need to see what it contains before you press any buttons to interact with RC4. Once you see the ATIS and Clearance presented please stop RC4, zip up the log and send it to rayproudfoot _ at _ btinternet dot com

Then start RC4 again and this time tune to ATIS and do nothing. You should hear the ATIS broadcast. If you do, great. Then press the option for Clearance. If it crashes then at least I know what you were doing.

I can't guarantee I can solve this because only JD fully understood the logs but I'll have a go.

Ruedi,

That was a bit difficult to read but the clue may be in the screenshot. You do not have a path to FLT/WX set in RC4. That might be significant.

Turn off "Display Text"

Start ShowText before starting RC4.

Hi,

I have tried all the recommended steps, no success. Therefore this 'last' action.

On 2/24/2019 at 7:52 PM, Ray Proudfoot said:

You can disable simconnect messages from appearing in your FS window by editing FSUIPC4.ini.

How can I do this?
But now this important question about 'directory FSX' :
where is fsx installed,

does it mean the whole 'box' of  FSX  looks like   I:\
or
does it mean the  contents of FSX, looks  like      I:\FSX.
Hope you understand.

But I made a flight yesterday  without   ShowText, and it works. AND that 'version' is very good for me,
to train my ear 😀

Means: I guess I'm short to say. that'it, let's close this case.
More tommorrow.

@Zeder, FSX location means I:\FSX.

Have you turned off Display Text in RC4? You must do that.

I’ll answer your other question later. Don’t give up. We’re very close.

I have made 2 tests. First set all Tools to 'run as Admin', check if all directories, fsx, rcv4 and showtext are accessible
for 'everyone'.

See table: time goes from top to down

35219589jz.jpgHi,

I suspect the error on the laptop side, rcv4 directory or something

Thanks Ruedi

Why I have to define 'RCD Output Folder' each time when I klick .FLT/(.WX Path   in RCV4??

Another detail/question/reason?

If I’m reading that correctly you’re starting RC4 before either FSX or WideClient. Don’t!

The correct sequence is:-

1) Start FSX, locate to departure airport and gate. Load flight plan. Start weather program.

2) Start WideClient on laptop. When connection established with WideServer start ShowText.

3) Open RC4, load flight plan and enter gate number for departure and arrival airports plus flight number. Press Start RC.

You should then see in ShowText the initial FLs calculated followed by the menu items for ATIS and Clearance.

It shouldn’t be necessary to define the flight plan path each time but I suspect that when you choose to load a plan if it opens to the right location things are okay. I think there might be a bug that doesn’t display the path but it still knows where to go for the plans.

Report back with how that goes. Make sure Display Text in RC4 is unchecked.

Hi,
All done exactly as you described >>>>  same error. Then I have switched Avira Firewall OFF and tried again >>>> same error.
I guess, that was it. Or what do you think about.
I have spent lot of hours without any success....

Thank you very much for YOUR time!!!

@Zeder, I’m determined to fix your problem. Please confirm you have turned off Display Text in RC4.

Its still a permission problem. I will setup a flight tomorrow and check what happens on my P3D computer when 3 - Clearance is requested.

Can you try tuning ATIS and see if that plays okay. No key presses required. It starts once the frequency is tuned. You should always check ATIS first anyway.

Please disable antivirus when running FSX and RC4. Just in case.

Ruedi,

One thing you could try is to copy the entire RC4 folder, sub-folders and files to your C drive on your FSX computer.

Run RC4 from there. If it works we know it’s a permission problem between the two PCs.

You may need to generate a new key before RC4 will run.

Ruedi,

Try this please. Start Radar Contact and load your flight plan. Then, before you press Start RC press Debug. You will see a warning about a large file. Make a note of the name. Press OK then Start RC4.

Press the key to get Clearance. RC will throw up an error message. Close it and send me the log. rayproudfoot_at_btinternet_dot_com. I hope you can decypher that address,

That should allow me to see what happens when you request Clearance. The file will probably be named rcv4.log

Extra info: Please turn off an Ai traffic package. That info is loaded into the log making it larger than it needs to be. I’m only interested in your aircraft.

Hi Ruedi,

Thanks for the logs. Firstly, on your laptop installation you haven't entered the path to where your flight plans are stored on the FSX PC. This is an extract from the log...

Souls on Board     2
VFR Squawk Code    120
250kt Altitude     10000
Pause at Distance False @ miles  1950
.FLT/.WX path     Y:\
 Special Flags     BPAMHFFQEHKGOKKPKADGKEEKEHMJNIKA

You should have a path like this...

\\CHILLBLAST\Prepar3D v4 Files

which is how mine is described. \\COMPUTERNAME\name of folder

I suspect you have some wav files missing. This file was found on your laptop...

F:\RadarContact_Tools\RadarContact\rcv4x\winwood\1\SWISSAIR.wav

But I suspect it cannot find this file...

F:\RadarContact_Tools\RadarContact\rcv4x\winwood\15\SWISSAIR.wav

Please make sure you have the same number of wav files in each of the pilot and controller folders on your laptop as you have on your PC version of RC4.

And use the WX/Flight Plan button on the laptop to point to the folder on your FSX PC where your flight plans are stored.

Do you mean WX/Flight Plan button in RadarControl window?

Ruedi,

The numbered folders under Winwood. They should be an exact match with your RC4 install on your FSX PC.

Yes, that’s the button. Click it and then use the Network option to navigate to your FSX flight plan folder on your FSX PC.

But I suspect you have missing wav files in the folders under Winwood.
