I found
version FSUIPC5 5.15 but it is for Prepair3D.

Please find fsuipc log here:

Ray: I created and saved text file as you recommended, from NB(laptop) to PC and viceversa.
eg:  NB\text1.txt to PC\FSX, or PC\FlightSimulator etc.and then from PC to NB.
No error!!
And I checked the access for all the directories, set to 'everyone' to read/write.

But as soon showtext is active and receice an input from FSX, error 70 occurs.

Could you explain me  " Have you shared both folders on your network? " Do you means connect or somethings others?
Where does rcv4 send file for saving, and showtext as well?
I will try to find out.

Firstly, Ruedi, I suggest you edit your post and remove your email address from the FSUIPC log.

Error 70 is a permissions failure. On your FSX PC right-click the FSX folder, choose Properties. Go to the sharing tab. There are two buttons for sharing. The first one is Share. Click it. Do you see an entry for Everyone? If you don’t then click Add and enter it. Make sure Read/Write is checked.

Then go to the second-Advanced Sharing. Make sure Share This Folder is checked. If it is click on Permissions and make sure Everyone has Full Control.

Do you have Autosave enabled in FSUIPC?

What is the path to FSX?

What happens if you just tune to ATIS? Does it play?

I’ve removed permissions from my P3D folder but RC still works. I’m trying to reproduce error 70 but so far no luck.

Has another aircraft been tried? Also another scenery?

Ruedi,

Make sure you have shared the folder containing your flight plans. My Documents\FSX Plans or something like that. Write access is required if you have Autosave enabled as that is where the saved flight is stored. And RC will also try to write there.

Can you provide screenshots of your RC settings window please? I assume it's an IFR flight. You're at a gate and need to hear ATIS followed by your Clearance.

When precisely does RC4 crash? Are you pressing a button for ATIS or Clearance?

Steve, I doubt it's aircraft or scenery related. It's a communications issue between the two computers.

Yes, I know it's a longshot.

...maybe it's because I've problem solved on countless systems. But the way I work is that when it's not happening, anything possibly related must be checked. Since even those things that don't directly cause an issue can often offer a clue to the resolution.

Also Ray, anything that runs simconnect might cause a communication error, unlikely but possible, and planes and scenery and gauges and so on often come with simconnect.

Steve, RC4 doesn’t use Simconnect. Just FSUIPC or WideFS across a network.

Ruedi needs to tell us what aircraft and location plus the flight plan and whether it’s IFR or VFR.

I use the PMDG737 without any issues. It’s something simple.

Ruedi,

There is a debug option in RC4. Load your flight and just before you press Start RC press Debug. A log will be generated for all events within RC4.

I need to see what it contains before you press any buttons to interact with RC4. Once you see the ATIS and Clearance presented please stop RC4, zip up the log and send it to rayproudfoot _ at _ btinternet dot com

Then start RC4 again and this time tune to ATIS and do nothing. You should hear the ATIS broadcast. If you do, great. Then press the option for Clearance. If it crashes then at least I know what you were doing.

I can't guarantee I can solve this because only JD fully understood the logs but I'll have a go.

RC4 uses FSUIPC because it doesn't use simconnect directly.

My point is that if anything is changed a clue may emerge, often does. It all seems OK , FSUIPC, simconnect, making files in the network folder (you did do that on the other PC to test the share?) except for when showtext is active then appears to be the problem as soon as the message is received FSUIPC gets an error 70 from RC4. No permission. Ray do you know if that means permission to a network share and if so which.

Steve, not definite on which folder it can’t access as it depends on FSUIPC settings. Probably folder where flight plan is stored so that needs checking from laptop.

No user intervention is required in RC4 until Clearance is requested. That’s why I asked about getting ATIS. Tuning it on COM1 will activate the broadcast.

OK. That may be looking for "\\PCRBW7\Flight Simulator X Files", where he has

\\PCRBW7\Flight Simulator X-Dateien\

Is that an issue for RC4 or showtext?

RC4. ShowText is just a window to display the info coming via WideFS.

Good spot. I suspect that folder is the culprit.
