Mouse as yoke

Featured Replies

You folks do know it's making it's return in FSX, right? Seems like a much requested feature and I don't recall a thread on it.And, oh, FSX will have a "mouse look" feature similar to some shooter games. It's very cool I use it a lot.

Hmm, I don't think I will be using the mouse yoke feature...don't wanna hit those giraffes. But I'm glad that there will be a mouse look feature built in.

Mouse look... that will be great :-jumpy Could it somehow support moving the head with 6 degrees of freedom (like track IR 4)... because it sure would be handy!Maybe when your in "mouse look" mode hold left button will move the head around ie up/down/forward/backwards. I guess tilting the head (left/right) is not really necessary, so if you could support 4 degrees of freedom, then excellent. So many times i want to lower my head and look out the left window to get a better view of the runway when turning final.

Excellent! Good for testing purposes when joystick/yoke is not available.Gary

It's super cool in the VC and supported by any view where you can pan, like spot plane. Doesn't work in 2D cockpits, though.

Ok great. It sounds like the center of the head doesnt actually move. Do you see what i mean about actually being able to lower the entire head to peek under say the C172 wing when turning. I guess I need track IR4 to do that. But in anycase great enhancement! Thanks. :)

The default C172 will have separate views for the radio stack, circuit breakers, etc.

Mouse view sounds good. Btw, can we assume the camera system lets you watch from the ground? Looking at the african elephant shots it seems it does.

An excellent feature Mike. :D

That's excellent news, Mike. Thank you very much.Actually, we did discuss it very briefly a couple of months ago. You implied that it wouldn't be included, as there were significant technical problems. Mouse as yoke is obviously very useful if you don't happen to have a joystick or flight yoke handy. In earlier versions of FS I found that mouse flight control is actually surprisingly accurate. Also, I did hear that mouse as yoke had been adapted for disabled people, so that's also a plus if true. Finally, mouse control was far more accurate and controllable in slew mode, an important consideration for scenery designers. As I said, this is a very welcome piece of news. FSX just gets better and better. Oh, yes, and one of the great changes is the presence of Microsoft on these forums. You and your colleagues have done an amazing job. Long may it last! Once again, many thanks. Best regards, Chris

Mouselook is a great enhancement for FSX.

A new feature in FSX that nobody has complained about yet??? Everyone's *gasp* happy with it?!?!!? :-eek Shocking. I didn't think it was possible. :-lol All kidding aside, that's great news, and a great feature that will make a LOT of situations much easier. I'm glad to hear that it will be included.-Ivan
