Saab 340 From Carenado

Featured Replies

I am thinking about purchasing this aircraft for  FSXSE.  I have read mixed reviews.  It is pretty pricey, wanted to get some opinions before taking the plunge.

thanks!

Cool selection. Do you have any other Carenado products? I aksed because I have several of their products including the Diamond DA62, Cessna C182, Kingair C90, Synthetic Vision and just bought the Cessna C310R this past week. I dont haventhe Saab just necause I currently don’t fly birds of that size, but overall Im happy with Carenados products and support. I have had a couple problems with the DA62, but support has been great at getting back with me and providing solutions. I do see the Saab has the option to use the Garmin GTN 750. I bought one for my C310R and love it. If I ever have the $$ in the real world for a plane, I couldn’t imagine owning an aircraft without the 750. What an amazing device.

Good luck

I don't use FSX anymore, but in P3D and XP11 the Carenado Saab 340 is one of my favourite airplanes. Carenado generally stands for superb graphics, and the S340 is no exception. I would say that textures are even better in XP11 than in P3D.

Carenado flight models are generally good in P3D, but the XP11 model is a little too agile in my opinion. That's a problem I often have in XP11: most airplanes I tested feel like a GA aircraft.

Carenado is not renowned for its modelling of aircraft systems. You can operate all buttons and switches in the VC, but many of them won't have an effect (think of anti-ice, engine management details, tests, ..). Hence, you can pretend to follow an amplified checklist, but there are few consequences if you get it wrong. The systems are actually better modeled in XP11 since Carenado cooperates with another developer there.
