Arno's Autogen Configuration Merger worked quiet well in 4.1 to 4.3. In 4.4 some issues appeared  Now with 4.5 the issues are still there :

 

ACM running :

- 4 out of 5 times no AG trees in True Earth Netherlands

- With ACM running I have AG trees/buildings at Skiathos.  With ACM not running none.

- Sometimes ACM seems not run correctly as then no trees/buildings at Skiathos. Just after a restart where before it worked.

- FranceVFR has autogen

- clean p3d.cfg file . clean terrain.cfg file. 

 

As V4 is capable of handling multiple Autogen folders I as wondering how to manually implement that .

Hopefully there is an expert amongst us who can explain how to do that.

Gerard, are you sure about that?  From what I have researched (take with a grain of salt, 😉), Even though it is read that way that it is possible,  I have never been able to see this happen,  unless 4.5 actually has now made this feature working.  I would also throw your question out at FSDeveloper forums to see if anyone has got it working.  Hence, why we are still using ACM.

Already I am in contact with Arno. ACM did work well several versions ago. Now it might work or not.

If I reinstall Skiathos their AG is back. But after 1-3 restarts it doesn’t .

Just now all TE NL autogen trees were back but after a restart they were gone again.

The Orbx Autogen files are in the main Autogen folder so why 1 out of 5 starts it is working ?

Therefore I would like to do it manually. Perhaos Lorby Si or Symbol might know how to do that .

sorry, but I only know what the spec says. You can add a component of category "Autogen" to a package (=add-on.xml)

The spec does not say what exactly that means. Are we supposed to drop .agn files in there? Or an additional default.xml / AutogenDescriptions.spb / TerrainAutogenClassDescriptions.spb / ??? file from the P3D\Autogen folder? No idea.

OK, so it is the definition files that go in there. That is good to know. Scenery developers can now create their own default.xml etc. containing only their own stuff, and provide an addon component of type autogen to reference it.

If I am correct Addon Organizer can add a Scenery addon ( scenery + texture ) to the xml way.

Is it possible to make it also add effects + Autogen for a certain scenery in the xml way ?

Or is that already possible ?

Yes, that is possible. The P4AO is a "addon organizer", not a "scenery organizer" 😉 Just like the "XML method" is not about scenery, but instead about all content.

Go to the "Other addons" tab, there you can add anything you want to a package (everything that is described by the spec, the "Learning Center"). I just made scenery more prominent and gave it its own tab, because of the intricacies of layering. Please keep in mind not to split a scenery area into two different addon components (one of category "Scenery" and the other as "Texture"). That is not required and potentially problematic. Just target the top folder of the scenery addon like you did when adding it to the scenery.cfg.

I will test in the coming days to see if extra addon packages will work correctly without the ACM.
