As the title says, out of the two Carenado aircraft what one should I lead to? 

I only have the B1900D so can't comment on the DO228.

What I will say is that i do most of my flying using this bird, peformance wise it is pretty good and the textures are very nice but it does suffer with the standard "Carenado"  sounds. This can be supplemented with the excellent soundpack from Turbine Sounds Solutions, Have included a link to one of my videos showcasing both. Hope you find it helpful
