May 27, 20197 yr Interesting benchmark of a 6700k CPU (which now includes P3D test) for the 1903 build of Windows 10 showing the effect of the latest meltdown/spectre/MDS mitigations: https://www.reddit.com/r/CabaloftheBuildsmiths/comments/brqqyb/gamingworkstation_benchmarks_on_windows_1903_for/ - follow the Google docs link. There's about a 4% loss in performance for those who don't want to follow the link. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3
May 27, 20197 yr Yep, you buy the latest, greatest, fastest CPU only to have a security patch throttle it. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
May 27, 20197 yr Author Remember that this is for the 6700K. The post did say "A 9900k R0 will have way less impact for example." - so much less than 4%.
