NGX Braking Action Question

Featured Replies

Hi all:

Does anyone know if the braking action with Autobrake is affected by the runway condition? Of course in the RW the braking action is definitely affected by water or other contaminant on the surface. I just wondered whether PMDG had gone to that length depending on the WX.

Thanks in advance

Rick

I believe it doesn’t

I’m 90% sure but I could have missed something

Thanks Sam. Yeah, you are probably right. From an implementation perspective it is tied into the anti-skid brakes and of course the WX and may be beyond the sim's capabilities.

Autobrake is a desired deceleration. It's accomplished by spoilers, drag from the cloud of disturbed air thrown out by the reversers (it doesn't blow forward but outwards) and the brakes.

Effectively no matter the weather, autobrake 1,2 or 3 will stop you from a certain speed in the same distance. AB Max is different and very much dependant on conditions.

Hope that helps.
