Fleet 16b Finch II

Does anyone have any thoughts on this offering from Golden Age?

I really like flying taildraggers, but I often find, after my purchase, the taildragging part is not modeled at all. A recent release from M_____ comes to mind. (I should have asked before pulling the trigger...)

I'm looking for something like the A2A Texan, for example, which has a great flight model.

Thanks

I've got quite a few Golden Age Simulation add-ons, they're kind of fun, but of course in many cases, they're about the only option where some of the rarer or more obscure vintage biplanes are concerned. It's probably for that reason more than any other that I've bought a lot of them, i.e. if you want something like a Travel Air 2000, they're literally the only developer who's made one, or ever likely will do. Needless to say, for a lot of their add-ons, with them being such rare aeroplanes, few of which survive in the real world, thus I suspect that a lot of the time, the flight model is likely to be an educated guess as opposed to one which is absolutely spot on, and that's good enough for me most of the time, since unless the flight model appears 'way off' I'm not really in a position to contradict their interpretation of things.

However, having said that, when it comes to simulating say a ground loop for example, that's something which many flight sim add-ons don't do a great job of emulating. It was with this in mind that I made the very first of my 'Chock's Hangar' flight sim videos, wherein I compared literally every flight sim version of a Boeing Stearman you could get, across four different flight sims and from several developers, both freeware and payware, including Golden Age Simulations. It's a long video of course, given the fact that it covers all that stuff, and has a detailed history of the evolution and development of the aeroplane itself, but you do have the luxury of being able to fast forward it past the bits you are not interested in (comparisons begin at around the 22 minute mark in the video) and just looking at the comparison between the different ones available, to see how they all rated in terms of everything from cost, to host flight simulator's capabilities, graphical appearance and how they handle in the air as well as on the ground. From that I think you can get a good general idea of where Golden Age Simulation's stuff falls in the pecking order of flight simulation add-ons.

So if you don't have a lot of flight sim taildraggers, you might want to give that video a watch:
