February 10, 200620 yr Here is my single wish for FSX - better error handling routines! No more unexplained CTD's. How about an error.log file and a pop-up message eg:"Error loading texture file xxx.bmp"Microsoft has no idea how frustrating it is getting CTD's with unexplained errors in module fe.dll, etc....Dream on.... :( Graeme Butler
February 10, 200620 yr I'm sorry you have apparently had a frustrating experience but, believe me, we know exactly how frustrating CTDs can be because they happen to us, too. Believe me, too, that we have lots of code in the product that attempts to avoid crashes but we can't always catch everything, especially when 3rd party add-ons are involved. The best thing you can do is to send us the crash information when you get prompted to. We look at that data to track down where in the application the problems are. The fixes that made up the the 9.1 update were the direct result of this analysis.
February 10, 200620 yr You are correct, of course, in that all my problems seem to stem from 3rd party add-ons. I think the FS9 platform itself is quite stable. I just wish it was easier to track down the causes of errors. x( In my case it has almost always related to 3rd party scenery files (textures or afcads), generally isolated by tedious trial and error. February 11, 200620 yr Hehe, the holy grail of error messaging that would be. I'm a software architect/developer myself and I sometimes curse at pointless "general error, pointless kind of messages", vowing never to frustrate my own customers in the same way. I just gotta figure out how to do that someday... :-roll ----------------------------------------------------- i7 920 @ 3.6 GHz; 6Gb DDR3; Windows 7 Ultimate x64; Sim disk=300Gb 10,000rpm (VelociRaptor); OS disk=300Gb 7,200rpm Radeon HD 4870 X2; Audigy 2 ZS; Dual monitors=24" Dell Widescreen (TFT) & 19" BenQ (TFT) FSX Acceleration

Most flight simulator planes don't have a fully functional VC .... I'm happy to fly non-VC planes such as the brilliant iFDG range, Samdim's fantastic aircraft, POSKY's wonderful planes, and many many others! I'm the richer for it :).
