FS Global 2018 NG Load times vs 2010 FTX

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I am just trying to figure out on what the load times are for the 80gb 2018 Pilot's NG mesh vs 2010 FTX (25gb approx) one.  I have the 2010 FTX version.  Just debating to update or not.

I am assuming that there could be performance update as one is made in 2010 with probably fsx sdk and 2018 is made with prepar3dv4 sdk/tools/encoding etc and well geared for 64bit sim

Follow up question will be - is 2018 NG 80 gb vs 2018 FTX version (25gb) better or pretty much the same in terms of performance --- yes I know it is loaded question.

Thank you

Well - Looks like I will give an update.

I bought FS Global 2018 NG Ultimate (80gb), and I have a PCIE SSD - let me say - Prepar3d boots it up super fast, but wow wow, I never realized how much difference this is from 2010 mesh.  I am able to see land elevation changes in default p3d area is amazing detail.  Just blown away.

Even tried Orbx Global+Vector+openLC area in KLAX, and it was completely different from FS Global 2010 mesh that I was using.

FS Global 2018 does boot faster in Prepar3d 4.5hf1 vs my previous FS Global 2010

Thanks for the feedback !
