I was hesitating to post this, but what the heck. Maybe someone commented on it already, I haven't seen it.Anyone notice in the screenshots taken, how versatile it appears the camera views are? Are we seeing a new camera, or at least new features? It would almost seem that the camera has been coded to behave as Active Camera and Walk & Follow does.I was looking at some of the pictures today and noticed the difference in the way the capture angles are. Quite possibly it would seem we have a very decent camera now, at least for the initial default install.

Jason CYOO - Formerly MYNN[br /]General Aviation Fan[br]P4 3.2Ghz, 1GB Ram, FX5900 128MB, XP SP2.[br /][br /]

A fixed camera that can be moved left, right, up, and down (with variable zoom) would seem to be the obvious thing to do. How difficult can it be ?

>A fixed camera that can be moved left, right, up, and down>(with variable zoom) would seem to be the obvious thing to do.>How difficult can it be ?>Actually?Harder than you think. Maybe "harder" is the wrong word. But there *are* tricky bits, mostly having to do with assumptions made in previous versions, and some with user expectations. All solvable, but more than a two hour task.Cheers,Jason

Get yourself a copy of Flight Unlimited 3, and poke around in the code ;-)Chris Low.

I hope the camera guy can figure out how to record better videos. In Battlefield 2 the movie files are real small in size, you can even email them. Why not do that? Oh yea and it would be good if there was a 'movie viewer' program so you don't have to start up FS to watch them.John.

>Get yourself a copy of Flight Unlimited 3, and poke around in>the code ;-)>>>Chris Low.>I guarantee you it was more than a two hour task for the FU folks too. :)Cheers,Jason

Jason,Sorry about that. It was just a little light hearted dig from someone who would love to be able to rejoin the MSFS bandwagon. I guess it's just that I have got so used to certain aspects of the FU series, that I now find it extremely difficult to do without them.Chris Low.

Chris,I can't agree more with Jason.FYI here is the Active Camera development time (2 programmers): 1. idea and concept : 25 hours2. searching for non documented memory offsets in FS code : less/more 150 hours3. programming the features 400 : hours4. testing : 100 hours5. writing the manual : 40 hours6. ... and we are still debugging the program (when we have free time - that's not the case now)regards

I was digging back ;)I think that every flight sim offers something different from the others-- FU, X-plane, FS, Fly!, some of the new guys like Matthieu, etc-- and that each offers/offered something done better than the others. Sometimes that "better" may just be a personal preference, and sometimes it's pretty quantifiable. There's a lot about FU that I was/am a fan of. There's also a lot that I wasn't. I think it's fine to keep agitating for the things you like, whether they appeared in FU or not. I certainly don't take any offense at it.Cheers,J

Jason,A very mature attitude, and I applaud you for it.The response above yours would seem to be from another member of the FSX development team. Is that correct ? If so, then the amount of time spent on this aspect of FS is clearly substantial. It presumably also suggests that this is a feature that will definitely be included in FSX ?Chris Low.
