This may seem as an odd question.

Is it possible in any GPS setup (standard or payware) to make a circular flightplan (or hold) using custom waypoints?

The circle would probably be anywhere from 1-3 miles in diameter (or racetrack length).

This could either be a full circle or racetrack hold.

Hi Michael,

The GTN750 has the option to define a racetrack hold or a SAR pattern around any waypoint, including a location defined simply by clicking on the map screen (this option is accessible via the "Direct TO" button). I've tested this in the sim with the Flight1 version, but it should absolutely work in the RXP version, too.

The SAR patterns are Orbit (circular), Parallel Track, Sector Search and Expanding Square, and you can define additional parameters. For the Orbit pattern, you can specify the initial turn direction and radius. For a racetrack hold, you can set the course, direction and leg time or length.
