Unfortunately the answer is no. The window is a 64 bit compiled GAU file and the font is embedded in the code. I tried both adding a fontfacename= variable to the vast.cfg file but that did nothing.

It is possible to find the background white bitmap in the VAInfo.gau file, but it would take a lot more work to locate where the font name is stored in the file, if at all. GAU files are just dynamic link libraries (DLL) with a different file qualifier.

It would also be possible to write a replacement XML gauge that would scan the debug files and push all the comms to a window. But that would be a lot of work for a very small gain.

Tom,

If you want to experiment. here is a freeware logfile viewer that updates in a simple window every time that a text file is saved. You can open multiple files in separate tabs:

https://www.codeproject.com/Tips/371229/Live-Log-Viewer

1. Download the executable version of this app and start it running. Select your font.

2. Run the VOXATC Advanced Settings utility and under Logging click the checkbox to enable detailed logging. This generates text files for every comm frequency and every aircraft that is active in VOXATC. The files are located in the hidden folder:

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Internal Workings\VoxATC P3D 4

3. Run P3d4, open your flightplan and start VOXATC. Once the AI aircraft have all been activated, go to the logfile app and open any logfile in the folder. You can actually add as many files as you want while you are flying. For example if I fly from KALB to KBTV, I can display the contents of these files (and more):

err.log (the user's aircraft)

albany tower 119.5.log

boston center 128.325.log

The contents are a bit verbose 😲, but it is a workaround. If you just want the user's aircraft comms, then there is no need to turn on advanced debugging in VOXATC. It automatically creates this file.

Jay,

Thanks for you effort.  I think I'll stick to the more general and probably, the more beneficial, solution of buying a new pair of glasses.

Is the font too small? If anything, mine is too big. Maybe the font size is affected by Windows display settings.

I moved the window to my iPad and the font is too small.  I find  that ATC tells me to fly xx heading and descend to yy.  I repeat it like a pro. However, I set the altitude and then realize I forgot the heading. It's easier to glance over at the iPad than pop up the window. This, of course, assumes that I can read the iPad  I'll take a look at the iPad display settings.
