September 6, 200619 yr In FS2004 repaints and other stuff there is often a file named thumbs.db. What does this file do if anything?
September 6, 200619 yr Nothing, you can delete it, it is just a file that gets sucked up with winzip when you are not looking, LOLhttp://www.pcworld.com/article/id,13357-page,1/article.htmlRegards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/ambanner.jpg Best, Michael KDFW
September 6, 200619 yr Thanks! I've started to delete them. I bet I will gain a fair amount of disk space once I deleted them all!
September 6, 200619 yr I've deleted ~20Mb of thumbs.db files on my PC :-lolThey are useless in Zip Files :) Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
September 6, 200619 yr Pretty sure they return though, like when you view your Pictures in Thumbnails under View.
September 6, 200619 yr Thumbs.db is a thumbnail cache created by Explorer. (And really doesn't need to be included with the aircraft.) If you don't want Explorer to store thumbnails in a cache you can disable that in Folder Options. (Either via the Tools menu or the Control Panel.) Just check "Do not cache thumbnails" on the View tab. Of course, if you use thumbnail view in a folder with lots of images it may take a longer to show all the thumbnails. Of course, this won't get rid of thumbs.db files included with addon aircraft. (or other stuff) Those you can just delete. Every so often I do a Find Files and delete all the thumbs.db files on my system.Keep in mind that thumbs.db files are normally marked as Hidden files, so unless you've got Explorer setup to show Hidden and System files, you won't even see them in Explorer. (By default they also won't show up in search results.)"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
