When I click on the Search, Flight Planning, Information, or Simulator Aircraft icon all four windows either open or close. 

That's not a bad thing, in fact I wish I there was a option to do something similar with the tool bars or at least be able to save different window states.

That would allow for turning off everything, but the map window and then quickly returning to a second view. 😊

But maybe there already is and I haven't

Hi Ernie,

saving window states was already requested and makes sense IMO. It's also not a terrible effort since saving and loading is already in place.

This can even satisfy the requests for a full-screen mode. I'd also prefer saved layout to fiddling with the toolbar logic.

I'll create an issue for this in the tracker.
