FSX box - new aircraft installs not requesting permissions

Featured Replies

I have Flight Simulator X Gold Edition installed on Windows 10. It's been problem free since FSX installed on new SSD about 6 weeks ago. The system was originally installed on an HDD (lost in HDD crash) and I've gradually been reinstalling old addons (GEX, UTX, EZDOK, airport scenery and aircraft) on the new SSD.

Despite the fact that I did a default install of FSX/Accelleration in the Program (x86) folder (I forgot recomendation) all has been problem free.......untill today.  I have sucessfully installed payware aircraft including the A2A C182 Cessna Skylane,  the Quest Kodiak, Carenado Bonanza V35B, Carenado Centurion T210, Carenado Skymaster,  Carenado DA62 and Feelthere Phenom 100. No problems -  all requested permissions, all panels are visible and I've had several enjoyable flights in each aircraft.

However today I did an install of Quality Wings, Ultimate 146 Collection and I noticed that surprisingly FSX did not ask for permissions on the first flight. Also there are transparent (missing) panels on exterior cameras. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling wbut got exactly the same result.

So I installed the Realair Duke B60 V2. Same thing: No request for permissions on first flight and all external cameras show missing panels.

I'm sure the fact that I did not see any requests for permissions on first flights is diagnostic and I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen if I try installing other payware aircraft.

I've spent hours trying to sort this out but am completely stumped......can anyone help please?

Bruce

w/r/t the QW add-on, If you used a backed-up installer without running the Flight1 wrapper first, then the key information needed to run the add-on wasn't installed into the registry...sounds kinda like that's what happened.

Hello,

apparently you need to do some of the things in this topic.

There are several detailed posts about why what you did was right and why the installers are wrong.

Bob - Thanks for your help. The QW product was installed from a boxed DVD (purchased c. 2013) with activation key (activation was successfull). However I was planning to install some other aircraft addons from backed-up downloads and on your advice I'll now re-download and install via my seller accounts.

Reader - Thanks for very informative link. I think the problem may be related to changes I've made to folder security settings.....in order to save changes in FSX.CFG for example so this info could be helpful.

Update since my OP: I've now also installed FSX/Accelleration on a 17" HD laptop (i5-8300H, 2.3GHz, 8GB RAM, W10) and installed the QW 146 Collection on that machine. This time several  requests for permissions were made when I started FSX and (as far as I can tell ) the product installed perfectly. I also installed the Realair Duke B60 V2 and got requests for permissions on running FSX for first time after install.  So the fact that I am not getting any requests for permissions when I install and run addons on my desktop pc does seem to be related to the transparent/missing panels problem

Thanks again,

Bruce

UPDATE: Well, could be that the problem is solved.......I made the permission changes (only needed one) described in the SteveW link (thanks Reader) and I'm now getting requests for permissions again. Following update to v.1.4 (plus update to v1.5) the QW 145 Collection no longer has missing/invisible panels.

I have several more early boxed versions of aircraft to linstall including PMDG's 737 NGX, the Airbus X Extended, JF's Dash 8-Q400, the Canbera PR9 and JF's Viscount. I think I'll start with an easy one....tthe Viscount I think.

Again, thanks for your help.
