iFDG MD-11s - Problem

Featured Replies

Thanks Andy. I spent some time switching panels - but can't remember if I flew the iFDG MD-11 with the B747 panel! Certainly I did it the other way round and the 747 was fine. I'll have another go, when I have a moment. It's not a 'mad' idea, but I really don't think that the bitmaps in the texture folder could have any bearing on the behaviour of the autopilot to be honest.. can't see a link at all.M. :-)

Hi,As I said, mad idea!<<<>>> But sometimes one odd thing upsets another and I don't see how a terxture folder could affect anything either, but-- if you say the only difference is that texture.....!There's a post above about an errant compass heading and it turns out it's maybe the object placement program doing it!Good luck.Andy.

I'll certainly post back if I make any progress. Now that I know what to expect from which planes, I can fly them OK, so it's not a disaster (just a mystery!!).M>

Hi,I've downloaded the IFDG MD-11 paintkit v. 1.5, i had the same problem with the PW engines version.I've done a search in a lot of places in the web for new FDE for this incredible aircraft, and found none.I've downloaded and tested a lot of repaint packages trying to found suitable FDE, always with same results. So, after all that i've decided to start playing around with the "aircraft.cfg" file to try and "fix it"!The results weren't very good though... the airplane was either overpowered or underpowered... i even managed to fly the plane to Mach 4.0 before it went out of fuel...The next step was to get AirEd, have a look at the MD11.air file, do some comparison with other aircraft .air files and try to figure out what was wrong. And i've found and fixed a few values.*** using AirEd 1.52 ***1. changed the GE CF6-80 powerplants to PW4462 powerplants in the performance comments.2. changed the Static thrust to 62000. lbs3. done dome dimensional specifications research on MD-11 and changed:Engine EGT-max EGT (exaust gas temperature) to 960

I will try making the changes with AirEd first - if I can't get it to work for any reason I will post back and ask for copies of your files, as you suggest! Thanks for the post,Martin

Your new air file flies very nicely as far as I can see (I made all the alterations you suggested)

Hello again Martin,As for the autothrotle problem, please check this, also in your .air file:329 Advanced Autopilot - Speed Hold Switches Airspeed Hold Available=TRUE(1) Mach Hold Available=TRUE(1) A/T Arm Switch Available=TRUE(1)all those 3 Boolean sub-entries should be set to true as shown above.Hope this will help solve the problem.By the way, set the thrust scalar back to 1.0 in the aircraft.cfg file if you haven't done it already.[jet_engine]thrust_scalar=1.0Also check this value in the same file[TurbineEngineData]fuel_flow_gain=0.00200Glad you liked my sugestions. Thanks,Paulo
