Wanted - opinions on the FFS Saab 340

Featured Replies

I'm looking at the FFS Saab 340 but haven't found too many posts on it (I've read all the existing ones so no links to them are needed). There are a couple of questions I'd appreciate answered if someone can...1 - How are the framerates (compared to default aircraft / PMDG 1900 / Digital Aviation Cheyenne ?)2 - Could someone please post a couple of pictures of the 2D panels? There aren't nearly enough on the FFS website.3 - How detailed are the systems?4 - On a scale of 1 - 5, 5 being best, how enjoyable do you find the addon?Feel free to add any other info, thanks!

Hi David,I find it to be a very competently done add-on, and the FFS team have a declared committment to incorporate some feedback from the first owners of the package. The only thing that I'm not 100% happy with are the sounds, they just don't quite capture the engine note of the Saab. Having said that I think the sound package will be reworked.FPS - very good, I've found it to perform well on my machine (see below) even in IMC.Systems detail - good enough for procedural useage. A few systems aren't modelled but they are not ones you'd miss. The Autopilot has been faithfully modelled and the key systems behave as they should. Don't expect PMDG/LDS levels of intricate detail but then the add-on was not pitched at that level.Out of 5? 3.783 with the current sound set, I'll bump that up to 4-4.5 once the few wrinkles are out of the package. Ext, 2D et VC... The gauges in 2D and VC are smooth but not as smooth as PMDG1900C or DA Piper Cheyenne... >2 - Could someone please post a couple of pictures of the 2D>panels? I give it 3.5... >Feel free to add any other info, thanks !Ext model is awesome... FDE is also awesome... Hand flyin' this bird is a dream. The sounds are bad... Systems modelling is good enough. 2D panel is medium... I personaly don't like the panel switchesThe VC is poor... very poor compared to today's standard (F1 ATR now 2 years old but still MUCH betta, DA Piper, etc... ).Fair addon... But I miss something.

The Saab is a very nice aircraft, but I can't run the VC versions on my machine due to low frame rates (single digits). The problem seems to be the ATI 9800 Pro video card, as other users have reported the same problem.Using 2d panels, my only complaint is that the vfr pilot view will not allow you to raise or lower the seat - here's the explanation I was given on the FFS forum:"MSFS won't let you adjust the seat if the panel uses views for the IFR, FO etc. and not windows. Some aircraft use windows, some use views, the Saab uses views"This is actually not a problem on final approach, only during level flight when I am trying to find an airport.Dalep4 2.53 ghz, ATI 9800 Pro, 768mb rdram
