Auto Gen Scenery....

Featured Replies

I know you can change textures and such by region, but is the file(s) that run auto-gen the same, by region? Or one does it all?I ask because I think I have a auto gen problem, but it is seems to be only in Hawaii.... I have trees & and buildings in places they shouldn't be. Trees more so than buildings. I have tried removing all Hawaii scenery add-ons including mesh and problem still there. reinstalled same same. This only seems to be in Hawaii as well, all islands all airports.Thankshttp://publish.hometown.aol.com/p3superb/i...s/sign_name.jpg

Try reducing the Autogen level. When I turned it all the way up, I had trees growing on taxiways, etc. These same taxiways had been tree-free just the day before so I knew what caused the problem. I set the Autogen level back to where it had been and all is well. R-

Though to rid extra crapon the ramps, taxiways, and runways, I have to turn auto-gen off. So, there must seperate files that control different regions(Again I say this because I only have this problem in Hawaii all other places I fly are fine.), as with textures. Does anyone know which files I need to copy from the original FS discs? Thinking maybe I have a bad file there somewhere. http://publish.hometown.aol.com/p3superb/i...s/sign_name.jpg

Hawai'i is covered by files numbered 905240, 906240 and 906250. These are files starting with AB, AP, RR, ST and others. They are located on disk 4 inside the Ocen.CAB file. Checking the file listing available here at Avsim there are 25 files total.I recommend backing up any existing files on your HD prior to replacing them. And should you have a program such as Ultimate Terrain : USA installed it will restore the islands back to default level. Are you certain you don't have any programs installed that would be causing the autogen problem?

Hello Jeff,Check to see if you have the AB (airport background) files - they display the grass and exclude autogen everywhere. Sometimes another scenery package will remove this part of the airport and draw a new grass boundary but without using the AB-style grass that excludes autogen. If so, you could try asking the scenery designer for an exclude file.Or, just make one yourself. Please see ExcBuilder (Exclude Builder) by Paavo Pihelgas, in the Avsim library.Best regards.Luis

The Autogen exclusion code for certain objects was not working properly in the beta.RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc.

Hey Jeff,So are you still in the P-3 community in Hawaii? Just nine months ago I was a Skinny Dragon and from 95-00 I was a Golden Eagle.

Thanks All... for the tips, getting closer to fixing...Here is what has been done...1. This all started with the install of FSGenesis' Hawaii Mesh. After the install had square coast lines, and somehow some way lost all my AI Bgls. 2. I have "Golden Hawaii" scenery from Bill Lyons, for those not familar with this, by way of a .exe you can change Hawaii from present day to the 1930'a. Somehow after the install of the FSG mesh, the scenery didn't swtich back and forth.(just discovered this yesterday. With a stand-alone Golden Wings, didnt need the 1930's stuff in my main FS. Though when clicking back in forth between "Golden Hawaii" and present day Hawaii, with "Golden Hawaii selected the coast were fine, but had trees/buildings everywhere they shouldn't be, and a normal looking coast line. If I would switch to "Present day Hawaii" the trees/buildings work like they are supposed to, BUT the coastlines are square. 3. Uninstalled the "Golden Hawaii completely, copyed the above listed files, and I have lost the FSG mesh(which I was warned about, can re-install later) The coastlines are noramal as they should be, auto gen buildings/trees are where they are supposed to be. BUT, there now are no airport buildings. No matter what scenery settings I select no buildings, and this is ONLY in Hawaii all other places around the world seem to be fine.4. Next question, does anyone know which files are for the airport buildings?http://publish.hometown.aol.com/p3superb/i...s/sign_name.jpg

Hello Jeff,Objects are normally in... OB (object) files. So, just look for one with the same numbering as all the rest that you put back in place.Best regards.Luis

Luis thanks. That was it. The OB file wasn't even in my FS Scenery folder. I think I am AJ squared away now. Will be great to be able to fly in Hawaii agian. Thanks to all...http://publish.hometown.aol.com/p3superb/i...s/sign_name.jpg
