December 9, 20196 yr Hey folks. Trying to see if I have my installation messed up here nor not. I picked up Orbx True Earth NA Cali and was flying around the Napa & Sonoma area. While looking down at the scenery I noticed it seemed there were some like city/neighborhood like textures that kind of abruptly ended to farms/wineries. Almost as if the orbx stuff was merged with some stock textures somehow. Has anyone noticed anything like this or do I have my install messed up somehow? I basically just fired up FTX and let it do its thing so not sure what could have gone wrong. I can post some screen shots later on when I get in if needed. December 9, 20196 yr Well, Orbx TE NA California is an Xplane product, not a P3D product... So if you were expecting to see TE California in P3D, I'm afraid to say that you chose the wrong product... Now, if you mean that you installed FTX Nocal and see 'abrupt texture transitions', then that is entirely normal because it's a landclass product, not a photoscenmery (True Earth) product. So I'm afraid to say that you probably got the titled of the products somehow mixed up and had the expectation to see one product, but actually bought and installed the other... Yep - that's exactly what I did. This is actually pretty funny now that I see what happened. I saw the sale, jumped, but didn't look first lol!. Thanks - that clears that up! Thanks - that clears that up! Heh, I understand the excitement 😉 If you do have Xplane, go and enjoy it there, I'm sure it's beautiful! Otherwise, I would suggest MegaSceneryEarth together with Nuvecta Autogen. I do think you'll get a somewhat similar experience on the whole, even ifMSE's photoscenery is not as high a quality as OrbX TE's is. Still rather nice and much better than the landclass. On approach to KOAK, using MSE and Nuvecta. Would have uploaded something better but it was very cloudy that day 😕 Benjamin van Soldt Windows 10 64bit - i5-8600k @ 4.7GHz - ASRock Fatality K6 Z370 - EVGA GTX1070 SC 8GB VRAM - 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX @ 3200MHz - Samsung 960 Evo SSD M.2 NVMe 500GB - 2x Samsung 860 Evo SSD 1TB (P3Dv4/5 drive) - Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM - Seasonic FocusPlus Gold 750W - Noctua DH-15S - Fractal Design Focus G (White) Case

I did purchase the NA Cali product so I guess that's fine. I may have to take a look at megascenery again. Many years ago I had purchased but PCs way back when I don't think were properly capable. This was when they first came about probably 10 or so years ago. December 9, 20196 yr Ah okay! Well, I have uninstalled all Orbx regions south of Tongass at this point, and have replaced the entire American southwest (California to Colorado to New Mexico and everything in-between) with MSE. The fact is that the mountains and desert areas look a million times better with MSE. In addition, my performance in the bay area is much better with MSE+Nuvecta compared to OrbX Norcal. Initially my performance around LAX was also much better, but Nuvecta autogen has sort of nullified it because it's so dense (which is, of course, not a bad thing. YOu just need a powerful computer to handle it) I'll just add that for MSE to look good you should have the high detail textures option enabled. This will certainly require at least 8GB of VRAM, so make sure you have that. If these requirements are met, you should be absolutely fine. My personal MSE favorites are actually Socal, Nevada and Arizona, though I haven't flown enough over Colorado, Utah and New Mexico to really make much of an opinion. For Norcal I would say MSE did a fine job, but the photoscenery is of a lesser quality than Socal. Probably has to do with the weather that area gets vs Socal. Looking over the MSE site they seem a little pricier than I remember. East coast would run me some 300 and change. I may hold off a bit and see how this whole MSFS thing shapes up.
