T16000M questions for users regarding button assignments

Featured Replies

I've finally purchased a new stick/throttle (T16000M) and want to get it setup.  Been using an old AV8R for years.  Obviously I'm now going to have a wealth of buttons/switches/hats etc to map giving me more options than I had in the past.  But I was wondering if any of you P3D airline pilots have any suggestions for button mappings.  IE, use the wheel on the throttle for spoiler.  Or things like that.  Another example question.  Now I will have a main throttle and the small slider throttle at the base of the stick.  Do you guys just map both to throttle so you have the option of adjusting throttle on both.  Same kind of redundant question with the twist z axis.  I already have rudder pedals.  So am I better off just mapping the twist to tiller functions on things like my FSLABS A320.  I realize all of this is a matter of personal opinion.  But I'd like to start getting this thing ready to use.  I fly PMDG 737,747,777.  Maddog MD88. FSLABS A320. QW 787 primarily.  I've sketched out some ideas I have, but don't want to start committing it to muscle memory until I've considered other options for possible options.  Thanks all.

PS: I do have a registered copy of FSUIPC in case that matters for your particular setup.

  • Disable the joystick throttle axis if you have the separate throttle unit. It will only cause confusion, and the joystick's throttle is easy to accidentally hit while handling the stick.

  • If you associate any analog axis to the spoilers, be sure to leave a generous null zone. You don't want to fly around with spoilers partially deployed because the knob isn't 100% turned the right way.

  • I don't have the FSLabs, but perhaps you can map the throttles "bowtie" analog axis found in the front of the throttle to the steering tiller, and continue to use the twist for rudder?

  • If you can save up for it, skip the twist axis and move on to a set of rudder pedals. They are a great next step and really help with immersion.

Thanks!  I do have rudder pedals.  MFG crosswind.  Love them.  What do you use the wheel on the throttle for and the little thumb stick like thing?

Guys.  I'm making good progress getting the throttle setup and integrated with P3D/Chaseplane.  However one thing I'm having issues with and was wondering if anybody could help.  On the throttle is a paddle like left/right axis.  Some people use it for rudder.  I would like to use it to look left and right.  It's hard to explain what I want, but I'll try.  say I'm in my default view looking straight ahead out of the VC.  I would like to be able to pull on the left paddle and look left, but snap back to default straight ahead when I let go of the paddle.  Same with the right.  Is this possible?

It's not exactly the solution you are looking for but here's the way I do it. Since I don't want to wait for the view to rotate back to an (approximate) view center, I'm using the top button to the left of the joystick hat switch (3) with the Look reset to forward view command to immediately return the view to the exact center position.

For the rest of the buttons I'm using them as located IRL on the center pedestal. 7/8 speedbrakes in/out (since you usually only need them fully out or fully in), 6/9 throttle increase/decrease for reverse thrust and 5/10 for flaps up/down.

thanks I appreciate it.  I was just trying to get the paddle to work as a pan left/right bounce type axis.  oh well.  I use a separate xbox controller linked with chase plane.
