October 9, 200619 yr Hi, As I have just got my student loan I will probably buy FSX when it comes out here in the UK at the end of the week. :-hah I still plan to use FS9 as my main sim but just have FSX to play around on until patches for PMDG, LDS, PSS planes come out because I couldn't be without those. I am presuming that there is no way of using them in FSX until the patches, am I right? My main question is can I install FSX on the same drive that I have FS9 on (D drive) or will it corrupt FS9 in some way? I could instal on E drive but I try to keep all FS stuff on my D drive.Final question. Does anyone have a list of the detailed airport that the FSX website says are in the program? Also which are only available in Deulux version? Thanks Andy S
October 9, 200619 yr they use seperate folders: Flight Simulator 9andMicrosoft Flight Simulator Xand use differently named folders in application data folders tooBut wait to hear from someone who has done this very thing in case the registry gets confused. There are old postings here about the airport listings doa searchallen
October 9, 200619 yr No problem - been doing it with the Demo, the FilePlanet beta and the redail Deluxe version. One change I did make is to go manually into the Windows Explorer options and set the file association with .FLT files to be opened with FS9.FS uses very little registry information - though addons use more.So far my addons for FS9 have all performed exactly as they did before loading FSX.
October 9, 200619 yr My CF9 Install is now hosed,I get Reality XP cannott find CF9 folder,Constant reinstalling of Active Camera Key and lockups:-mad
October 10, 200619 yr Not being a payware addict I can't comment on those addons you ask about but I've seen some indication that SOME do work.As for having FS9 and FSX on the same drive.... I am on the Beta team and I've had FS9 installed along side each Beta release and now have the final and they have no effect on each other. I DO NOT let FS install to the default location. I dislike having to dig down thru several layers of the program folder to install addons. Mine are both installed as C:FS9 and C:FSX.As a note of interest, until a few days ago, I had FS98, 2000, 2002, 2004 & FSX Beta3 installed on this machine with no interaction. So, have at it.Cal - CYXX
October 10, 200619 yr I have the Deluxe version. No problem using FS9 and FSX on same drive. There's been some posting (do a search) of FS9 addons with FSX. I won't install those planes until patches come out (if any).I don't have a list but the Deluxe has more HIGH DETAILED cities and airports.
October 10, 200619 yr Sorry, but there are no patches for the PMDG 737 series. PMDG is crating an entire new set of 737NG aircraft for FSX. Check out the PMDG forum on Avsim where all this is clearly spelled out.Stanner
October 10, 200619 yr Jeez, how about forgetting videogames for a while and spend your student loan on your education, you tax-dodging lazy sudent type!Lol, only joking, I know even you young'uns need your distractions to keep you out of the Students Union bar. ;)
