FSX:SE Random crashes

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I am running FSX:SE on my Latitue e5490 latptop with:

i5-8350u

intel uhd620

16gb ram

I am experiencing some random crashes which cause fsx to create two dumps files. When I do "analyze -v" in WinDbg i get these two results:

It happens with default aircrafts and with addons.

I only use FSXWX and FSX - ENBSeries as addons, and some textures for the runways,

I also used VASMonitor to check whether I am running out of memory, but I never see the sim eating more than 50% of vas.

The CTDs only happen when interacting with the right click on any menus, not in other situations.most of the times when changing views

Faulting module - panel.dll.  Most likely, the aircraft you are trying to load is the fault.  Is it an update? Did you just install new gauges for the aircraft?  Did you check your anti-virus program, including Windows Defender, to see if anything was blocked or quarantined?

Faulting module - uiautomationcore.dll - this indicates an installation error.  The uiautomationcore.dll was installed and modified by the developer's of FSX-SE.  If you placed another version in the main FSX-SE folder, then this is probably the problem.  Of course it will affect default and add-on aircraft if you messed with the FSX-SE installation.

The dll.xml manages the FSX menu.  Problem probably there.

Hi Jim, Thank you for your support,

I did not change my addon aircraft, no modifications done, Antivirus is set to exclude the FSX Folder.

I did not change or put a different versione of the uiautomationcore.dll.

did not change the dll.xml file at all, I was not even aware of its existence 🙂

What happens if an add-on aircraft or scenery was installed in a non-FSX folder?  Is it excluded too?

In a default install of FSX-SE, there is no dll.xml installed but it is used by add-on developer's to load modules required to run their application.  These might be missing or corrupted but not going to guess any further.  There is no one fix for your issues.  You must investigate your own crash.  The AVSIM CTD Guide, page 10, provides information on how to investigate.  The debug program identified faulting modules and those are only clues as to what happened.  It does not mean those modules are at fault.

Make sure your fsuipc.dll for FSX is up-to-date.

When a uiautomationcore.dll module (Windows OS file) crashes, it indicates to me you had an install problem of one or more of your add-ons.  This module is part of the Microsoft.net packages used by add-on developers to run their add-ons.  Page 29, AVSIM CTD Guide provides more information.

Windows Defender has a history of not installing everything to save you from evil people.  They don't tell you either what they did.  They just do it and it is up to you to solve the puzzle they created.  Microsoft does not like outdated add-on programs.  They like the latest and greatest.
