Lat Long coordinates and few other questions

Featured Replies

Good evening Have a couple of questions not finding an answer in the manual or maybe simply going blind :).

1) Is it possible to enter lat/long coords with higher degree of precision? Trying to enter 6000N14920W for example and  P2ATC is not liking it.
2) Is it possible to drag around a user created waypoint to see how it changes the routing?
3)  Is it possible to override IFR approach requirement  during planning phase and force user designed approach?

Thank you very much for your help.

Sorry, but the answer to all your questions is No.

1) The Lat/Lon entries are limited to those that are in the AIRAC Nav data as waypoints (for oceanic flights).

2) This is not a feature.

3) Published approaches cannot be modified.  You could create your own approach by using User Defined waypoints.  Or you could display and select the published waypoints on the map, displayed as a triangle.

Hi Dave, thanks a lot for the quick response.  For number 3 I was trying to do exactly what you suggested and design my own approach using user defined waypoints but when  it was time to file a flight plan I got this error message. Thank you for your help.

Ahh.  I misunderstood the question.  On an IFR flight, you must have a published approach if one is available.

Besides being realistic, there is a lot of data in the published approach beyond just the waypoints, so without a published approach, ATC would  not behave properly.

You would have to file VFR and request flight following from ATC, but of course, you would be flying VFR rules.

So I guess the answer to the newly understood question is, No.

Got it.  Thank you, that makes sense.
