P3D Crashes

Recommended Posts

At random times during flights, or after loading, sometimes not at all, my game will freeze and go white with the windows "not responding". most the time its just a few seconds and just a minor inconvenience and a few looks from the controllers on vat-sim. 1/4th of the times it either crashes or pops up the "end process" selection and crashes anyways even when not touching anything. I have a long list of scenery's and planes, it happens with anything, anywhere. Any help?

Specs:

Ryzen5 2600

GIGABYTE RX580 8GB

16GB DDR4 3200

1TB SSD

Orbx scenery, list of planes, and no shaders

It is usually a Windows problem. Not P3D.

Make sure W10 is up to date and your graphic drivers as well.

Run the sfc //scannowcommand  and make sure all is OK there.

Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. Z170x Gigabyte m/b. 28" LG HD monitor. Win 10 Home. 500g Samsung 960 as Windows home. 1 Gb Mushkin SSD for P3D. GTX 1080 8gb.

I'll try that, I'll update the thread if I continue to have issues. I think windows is up to date but I'll see about my drivers.

Have you looked into the Windows application log in Event Viewer for clues when it crashes?

I had the same problem, random and intermittent crashes.  Incredibly frustrating, especially after a long flight.

I'm not sure which P3D version you are using, but for me using V4, it turned out to be older add-on software I was using that was compatible with p3d v3 (32 bit) but not compatible with v4 (64 bit).

It's very difficult to find the software culprit, even using Event Viewer it wasn't very clear.  So I basically audited all the old software and removed absolutely everything that was not explicitly compatible with v4 (according to the vendor).

Sure I had to unfortunately discard my investment in some bits of scenery, planes etc. but after making sure I only had v4 compatible software, I have not had a single CTD for months and months.   A very small price to pay for simulator bliss...…………………..!
