February 28, 20206 yr Hi Everyone I am super new to all of this flight sim stuff and blows my mind how real the equipment is. I am wondering and hoping someone has a solution. I purchased the GTN 650 and it definitely runs like a dream. I also purchased the G5's so that I can mock the plane I fly. The issue I am having is that from start up when the GTN set the half needle defaults the needle does point to the 150 degree mark to verify synced. I then put in a flight plan with an approach and the GTN cycled through the flight plan but the GTN did not communicate and switch the needle to the next desired heading when it needed to. I have reached out a couple times now with so far only getting told to contact the other company. Hope you can help me here Thanks Ken
February 28, 20206 yr What G5 are you talking about? The G5 is a new AH/HSI only recently released by Garmin in the real world. To my knowledge no sim developer has replicated one. Edited February 28, 20206 yr by DavidP David Porrett
February 28, 20206 yr Author Hi DavidP The physical G5 hardware is for purchase through Realsimgear and the software for the equipment is for purchase through X-Aviation. They have a 172 set up with twin G5's in it to fly that airplane specifically but the software purchase you can overlay the steam gauges in the aircraft and fly the twin G5 layout. Ken

February 28, 20206 yr I can't spot anything wrong there in relation to the auto-slew feature. However, are you sur the GTN is in GPS mode and not VLOC mode? Can you confirm toggling the GTN CDI mode also toggles the G5 HSI source accordingly?
February 29, 20206 yr Author Hi RXP Thanks for all of your help. I have since restarted the computer a couple times since the last time i have been in X-Plane and i went and tried it today and it seems to be working like it should now. I will keep you informed and let you know if it decides not to again. Thanks everyone for responding so quick and helping me out. Ken
