The great mathematician and physicist died yesterday, at 96. A very interesting scientist and nice person, he once said Aviation is the branch of engineering that is least forgiving of mistakes  😄

So many see his name and immediately think of sci-fi Dyson spheres, instead of the more credible Dyson swarms. (I like Ringworlds even better, though)

Always sad to see when anyone leaves this mortal coil, but an extra sense of loss sometimes for somebody who contributed so much to the sum of human knowledge.

There is indeed much, much more than the sphere in Dyson's achievements  ! There is a long interview of him segmented in 157 pieces (!) on YouTube  in the "Web of Stories - Life Stories of Remarkable People" series.  

He was one the last of the old guard who shaped up modern physics in the last half of the 20 th century. And like Gell-Mann he had an interest for many things beyond physics. A true scientific mind.
