Where are the raindrops on the windshield?

Featured Replies

This question has been raised at least twice with apparently no response as far as I can tell from searching this forum.Tdragger and others from ACES, why are there no raindrops on the windshield? Is this a configurable item somewhere? If not, it seems to be a genuine step BACKWARDS.I will say that in other respects, FSX seems to great and with super potential IMHO.-Rick----------- My System -----------P4 @ 2.53 GHz / 1GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, 256MB / Windows XP Home

The 'vc rain on windshield' feature was dropped for this release. It will hopefully be back in a new and improved fashion for the next iteration.

Rick-This was a feature that we had slated for improvement, but got prioritized lower than some other work and was cut to meet our schedule. Unfortunately, there were technological issues that prevented us from simply going back to the old method, so we were left without it this time around. As I'm sure is well known, a project like this is a series of trade-offs, and they're not always easy calls to make. Hal BryanFlight Simulator Community Evangelist

Thanks for the confirmation Hal. Maybe VC raindrops could be added to the feature set for the future FSX DX10 patch. One can always hope ;)Phil.

Wow one of the best things about flying in the rain was that that truly is a bummer.

Thank you guys for the explanation. Agreed, trade-offs are inevitable in a sim this complex.-Rick----------- My System -----------P4 @ 2.53 GHz / 1GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, 256MB / Windows XP Home

Is it possible to create raindrops with motion blur (without textures)? I think with DX10 it should be possible. Even with DX9. Like this one:and this: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0311348/L/

This is a perfect example of why Im not in a rush to move to FS10 full time for a long while. Great stuff to be sure...but my FS9 is so tweaked up that its gonna be awhile before FSX catches up from a 3rd party POV as well as these little details, which it sounds like MS may patch later!besides I cant afford a new PC right now to do FSX full justice!Eric
