FSX 'Not Responding' on startup - help

Featured Replies

Hello all,My copy of FSX Deluxe came in the post this morning. I had a good fly around this afternoon coming in and out of the sim several times - everthing normal.I've now tried repeatedly to load the sim up this evening and it shows nothing by the opening splash screen. Ctrl-Alt-Del shows 'Not Responding' after a while and then I get Send-Don't Send.Any suggestions? I have tried restarting and deleting the fsx.cfg. I have also tried repairing the installation but that hung too :(

Multiple monitors perhaps . FSX demo and beta 3 did just that to me if I had my PCI video card (which drove a third monitor) enabled.Gary

Would be quite bizzare if that were the case. I've got one monitor connected to the 2nd output of my graphics card (simply becasue it makes the cables less jumbled there). I shall try switching it just to be sure.I've been running the second demo and beta versions quite happily for weeks - just for a bit more info.

I had the same thing happen. And the solution for me was patience! :) The first time you start, it is apparently indexing stuff as it took several minutes before the splash screen disappeared. Start again, pour yourself a small glass of Port and sip it. Should have the main menu in a few minutes. Bob..

Plenty of patience but still no luck unfortunately...May have to try a reinstall, but don't really want to as it uses an activation :(

You are not alone. I installed FSX and the SDK without a problem and the first few flights were fine. The next day on starting a flight I had a crash with a huge diagnostic file transferred to Microsoft. Again, starting a flight the same thing. Subsequently it will not start at all, saying it cannot load some files. I have unintstalled/re-installed several times, sometimes it reaches the activation stage and accepts the key, at other times it fails before activation.I have another copy for my other system and this one works.George
