March 21, 20206 yr Hello — I have a myriad of Saitek controls and radio boxes all hooked up via an industrial twenty port USB 3.0 box that is connected to my simulation computer and I'm using SpadNext as the interface program. I've had a frustrating time trying to set up the map for the throttles, yokes, buttons, etc so they don't change or reset every time I start P3D. I've tried numbering the radio boxes(4) and throttles(2) in SpadNext to try and distinguish them but that doesn't always work. I've also tried saving the .xml config file from P3D after doing the setup but that doesn't work either; Any suggestions? Thanks 🙂
March 21, 20206 yr ive heard some people mention that USB 2.0 ports play better. I'm the first to admit I've since forgot the difference between the 2. this thread may help you. Have you checked power management settings for the hub? 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
March 22, 20206 yr Author Just disabled it. Didn't know Windows would power down USB devices. I'm using an extra USB 3.0 PCI-E card to connect the hub to the computer. April 1, 20206 yr Author Hi...well, not really. The problem seems to be that either the simulator or Windows can't distinguish between the same controller — i.e. confuses both Saitek throttle quadrants and gets mixed up which is which instead of knowing you have more than one installed. Settings are not saved at simulator shutdown. They have to be re-set every time and it's very frustrating. Questions: Is there a way tor the simulator (P3D/FSX) to permanently ignore the stock Saitek settings in each controller? Are there setting in SpadNext that can help? Is there a default .xml file or files that I can manually edit to save the desired settings or are they part of the controller itself? –TTB

The file you are looking for is this one: C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Controls\Standard.xml When you have a setup that works, make a copy and set the original to "read only". If you want, you can try my freeware Lorby AxisAndOhs app for controller assignment. I have three Saitek TQs and not a single problem But if Windows keeps changing the controller IDs, then you may be out of luck. That could happen if there are electrical problems with your USB connections, so Windows will search and newly recognize the controllers every time you start the computer - assigning new GUIDs more or less at random. April 1, 20206 yr I've been (am) tempted to do this kind of control lock. My fear is that at some point Id forget I did it. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
