October 15, 200619 yr I called Electronics Boutique today (Sunday) and just wanted to check if they had FSX in stock for Tuesday. Some clerk there told me that if I had left a deposit ( which I had ), that it was ready to be picked up today. So, I drove about 12 miles to the mall, and looked forward to getting my copy. When I got there, some head geek said that the clerk who told me that thought the date was the 11th instead of the 17th, and he would not give me my copy because Microsoft would fine him $1000.00 per infraction. After trying every comeback I could come up with (drove far because they said I could pick it up), they still turned me down, and said, "Sorry, come back on Tuesday."Oh well, so close....but yet so far. 48 hours, and it'll be all over. October 15, 200619 yr Author Well, actually I have a surprise sitting here in my "computer room" that I'm setting up tomorrow. It's still in the boxes, and I'm taking tomorrow off from work to set it up.It's a new Dell XPS Conroe E6700 (2.66GHz,1066FSB with 4MB cache) with Dual Nvidia 7950 Video Cards (1 gigabyte), 4 (yes...FOUR)gigs of RAM, and an X-Fi PCI sound card.So....I think in 48 hours, I should be OK. What do you think? Stanps.....I'll write a report by Wednesday, the 18th.
October 16, 200619 yr LOL, I figured somewhere in Dallas it would be on the shelf, so I went searching yesterday. Best Buy had a whole display - BINGO!Regards, MichaelKDFW Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI-x16 / AMD Best, Michael KDFW

I really look forward to your photographic shots showing REALITY from your plane, and the exact FS comparisons. They are truly a treat for the forum. I'm sure everyone appreciates your input and dedication. Stan

October 16, 200619 yr >Look forward to your report with that new monster computer. That ain't no joke, sounds like a sweet rig!The Wal*Mart here in Cassville has no FSX anything up anywhere. Ooh! But I have my name on a piece of paper, so they can call me when they have it! Lol, I have a feeling when I show up at 7:00AM Tuesday that I will be at least 24 hours ahead of there call. October 16, 200619 yr Stan:LOL! Make sure that you come back here after you get your new rig set up and get all the tweaks like the rest of us. Avoid big cites, turn off most autogen, turn off most ai traffic, turn down weather visibility, reduce your texture sizes, cloud sizes, autogen sizes, edit the fsx.cfg and add stuff about threads and autogen densites, say a prayer and methinks you should get frame rates in the high teens over Munk Gulch, Minnesota, 2 FPS in NYC, 18-20 fps in Seattle and a headache from scratching it while muttering obsenities that most teenagers haven't invented yet.Sorry, unless you are running Vista+DirectX 10+DX10 video card (none of which exist yet) welcome to FSX H3LL, we've been waiting for ya. No, your eyes are not deceiving you...that stuttering, blurfest in front of you is promised to get better in a few years when the technology catches up. Unfortunately, your new wizbang rig will be as usefull as a submarine with a screen door right now (hey but I'm sure it will run Doom3 like stink on a skunk!)Enjoy. (Edited for spelling)

October 16, 200619 yr Author Unbelieveable! I've never seen such "glass is half-empty" attitudes!Of course, I remember FS9, FS2002, and all the rest. They ALL had to be "massaged". I've read many reports on this forum and the other forums where many satisfied simmers have emerged after installing FSX. I truly believe that many of the systems that have issues here also have serious issues with other programs or they're just not built up to the specs necessary to get decent frames. Time will certainly tell. Regardless of my systems specs, I will still avail myself of tweaks and ideas put forth on this forum, because some of the best "sim-minds" are here, and we do have Microsoft listening and waiting for our input.BTW....The glass is really "half-full"!
